What To Wear

What to Wear With Harem Pants, Part 1

Magui's outfit Our last Style Challenge was probably the toughest one yet, with quite a few of you saying that nope, there IS nothing you can wear with harem pants to make them look stylish. Others, however, decided to give it a go, and here are some of the outfits they came up with – don't forget to tell us what you think: are you persuaded to give the dreaded drop crotch a go?

Style Challenge: What to wear with harem pants?

Oh yes, we went there: well, you knew we would sooner or later, didn't you? Yes, folks, it's round three of our Style Challenge, where we choose "difficult" fashion items and ask you what you'd wear with them. This week your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to use Polyvore to create an outfit based around the harem pants you see above. Just be grateful we chose a plain black pair, and not one of the crazily patterned ones we keep arresting: it could've been so much worse! You'll find the rules under the jump – please read them before playing, and remember that the comments will close on Monday, so you'll need to post a link to…

What to Wear With Gladiator Sandals, revisited

Anna's outfit Because your Chief of Police isn't exactly firing on all cylinders this week, some of last week's Style Challenge results got missed out by mistake. Here they are now, and sorry to the people who were missed!

What to Wear With Gladiator Sandals – Part 4

EDIT: I've been ill this week and have been struggling a bit to stay on top of things, so I didn't realise there was another page of entries on this until Diandra complained about it in the comments. Sorry to those whose entries weren't published – my head has been absolutely fried! I'll post the ones I missed next week,…

Style Challenge: What to wear with … gladiator sandals!

For our next Style Challenge, we're going a little bit easier on you. Gladiator sandals, as you all know, are the trend that just won't die at the moment: they're everywhere, and on everyone, and if you're lucky, you may even like them, in which case this challenge will be super-easy for you! We get a lot of emails from people who want to know just what they're supposed to wear with gladiator sandals, though, so for the benefit of those people – and also just for fun – your challenge is to use Polyvore to build an outfit around the sandals you see above. The comments on this entry will stay open until sometime on Monday, to allow you…

Style Challenge: What to wear with wet look leggings

Let’s play a game. Everyone familiar with Polyvore? The site that can suck up hours of your life as you browse items and put together outfits? Good. Your challenge, should you choose to accept it, is to use Polyvore to create an outfit based around the item shown above: in this case, a pair of wet-look leggings. We’ve deliberately chosen something a little bit difficult to style, because… well, because we’re mean and cruel, and because we’re hoping the outfits you come up with will provide inspiration to us all on how to wear some of those more “difficult” trends of the moment. How to Play: 1. Log-in to Polyvore¬†(you may need to create an account first, if you don’t…

What to Wear… to the bowling alley: Rihanna’s outfit

OK, OK, we confess: this isn’t actually one of our reader-submitted What to Wear outfits, although if Rihanna would like to submit an outfit, she’s more than welcome to. The point is, though: bowling. It’s pretty damn hard to dress for, isn’t it? And it’s all because of those ugly ass shoes.  Not only do you have to put together an outfit that works with a mannish pair of lace-ups, you also have to allow for the fact that one of them is red and the other one is blue. (WHY?) Rihanna here, pictured in London last week, has decided to get around the eternal "what to wear to the bowling alley" conundrum by simply embracing the clashiness, and has…

What to Wear … to a Valentine’s Day Dinner: Lola’s Outfit

Wrapping up our What to Wear on Valentine’s Day feature, this outfit was submitted by Lola, who’s added a bit of fun to a simple dress with this pair of spotty tights and some L.A.M.B. stilettos. You’ll find the links to Lola’s items below – look out for another What to Wear challenge coming up soon, plus more Valentine’s picks over the next few days… Lola’s items: dress; tights; shoes; bangle; earrings

What to Wear… to a Valentine’s Day Dinner: Virginia’s Outfit

Although Virginia’s outfit is designer from top to toe and, as she says herself, would cost more than most cars, she also points out that the same look can be achieved fairly easily using pieces from the High Street – and, in fact, she’s done just that, with another outfit which we’ll be showing you later. Meanwhile, these items all come from Net-a-Porter, a.k.a. "Where we’d shop all the time if we were rich." Virginia’s picks: gloves; top; jeans; shoes; blazer; wrap; bag; bangles; bangles

What to Wear… to a Valentine’s Day dinner: Nancy’s Outfit

We don’t know where Nancy is planning on going for Valentine’s day, but it must be somewhere pretty fancy, because her outfit includes this Miu Miu prom dress, some purple Louboutins and a splash of animal print. She’s even decided what kind of lingerie to wear, choosing knickers that come inside a gold passport case! Nancy’s picks:  dress; boots; necklace; bag; lingerie

What to Wear… to a Valentine’s Day dinner: Heidi’s outfit

We still have lots of reader-submitted Valentine’s Day outfits to show you, so without further ado, here’s Heidi’s submission, which we absolutely love – props to Forever 21 for the bow dress and bracelt sleeve jacket (we love the splash of red with all the grey), and thanks to Heidi for putting it together. We’ve had so many entries to this edition of What to Wear that we’re going to be struggling to fit them all in before Valentine’s Day, so while we will, of course, be publishing the entries we’ve already received, sorry, but we can’t accept any more. Stay tuned, though, for a new What to Wear challenge soon! Heidi’s picks: dress; earrings; jacket; bracelet; shoes; clutch

What to Wear ….to a Valentine’s Day dinner: Sophie’s Outfit

Sophie was feeling blue on Valentine’s Day, but soft pink accents and some classic pieces including a Hermes scarf and a pair of Wayfarers managed to cheer her up, and create this pretty little V-Day outfit. What will you be wearing on Valentine’s Day? Tell us in the comments! Sophie’s Picks: dress; sunglasses; scarf; ring; shoes; bag

What to Wear… to a Valentine’s Day Dinner: Amy’s Outfit

Next up in our Valentine’s Day fashion parade is Amy, who’s combined this cute little square necked dress with a sequined shrug and shoes in one of the spring season’s key trends – ombre – tied together with a splash of red from the clutch bag. Links to Amy’s items are below: if you’d like to take part by showing us what you’ll be wearing on Valentine’s day (or what you’d like to wear), just leave us a comment with links to each of your items! Amy’s picks: dress; shrug; tights; shoes; bag
