The Bra Dress: giving a whole new meaning to “visible bra straps”

Our thanks to Fashion Police reader Simone, who apprehended this fashion criminal yesterday afternoon and sent it on to us for incarceration.

Now, we have to admit, when we looked at the front of this dress we thought, "A fashion crime, clearly, but at least they’ve made the ‘bra’ blend in with the dress." Then we looked at the back.

Oh dear. That’s not good, is it? And to think: the opportunity was there for the makers of this dress to just blend the "bra" part in with the rest, making it look like a design feature rather than a skimpy dress slung on over the top of a highly visible bra. But no. They actually wanted to make it look like a skimpy dress slung on over the top of a highly visible bra, and if that meant adding in an ugly hook-and-eye closure on the back, why, they would do it! Because every girl wants to show off the back of her bra like this, clearly.

Then again, we’re not really sure what else we could’ve expected for $9.99…

As a *stickler* for proper bra fit, I am horrified that “ladies” are going to be buying this dress according to their S, M, and L dress size. I know this bra isn’t meant to be super supportive (I hope!) but I think I’ll have nightmares about bands riding up and underwires digging in. No wonder women think bras are uncomfortable, if they think that they can order a bra like this and be OK!

I never understood the exposed bra strap fad. Bras under tube tops? Straps sticking out of an off-the-shoulder top? It just looks tacky to me, and this dress is no exception.

okay. i am extremely horrified by this. i’m not embarrassed much when my bra strap falls out of my tank top. i mean, you’re fully covered & everyone knows you’re wearing one. but this? there are no words to describe it.
$9.99. i’m not sure whether to laugh or scream.

I’m so confused by this dress. Are the dress and bra attached? Or is it a two-piece set? Would the dress work with something different under it? I don’t know…maybe in a different colour and if you were a Pussycat Doll…maybe.
All in all, it reminds me of this store called Cheap Ts from when I was a kid that specialized in ridiculously cheap clothes designed to make you look…well…ridiculously cheap.
