Style Stealer: Blair Waldorf’s shoes from Gossip Girl ‘Pret-a-Poor-Jenny’

When we’re not out policing the world of fashion, The Fashion Police like to relax with an episode or two of Gossip Girl, which we love, not just for the plot, but for the clothes. This week Blair Waldorf’s gorgeous t-bar shoes caught our eyes in the ‘Pret-a-Poor-Jenny’ episode – the shoes in question are by L.A.M.B, and are $314 from Heels.com. Wear with white tights for a true ‘Blair’ look…

Mariah Carey: so that’s who’s been buying peep-toe ankle boots!

Every time The Fashion Police see the phenomenon that is peep toe ankle boots, we find ourselves wondering, "Who would buy such things? And how would they wear them?" Today, though, we’re pleased to say that the mystery has been solved: Mariah Carey would buy them. And she would wear them with leggings-worn-as-pants, a longline cardigan and, well, boobs. Case closed. The boots in question are by Marni, and should you wish to steal Mariah’s style, they can be purchased for £425 at Net-a-Porter…

Acne Jeans: catering to your inner Katie Holmes

Oh, here we go… When Katie Holmes jumps into the fire, the fashion world has to follow, and Dressed and Pressed have managed to uncover these Acne jeans which will help you create that "pegged jean" look at home, should you wish to. Now, we actually didn’t hate this look on Katie, but we qualified that opinion by saying we wouldn’t wear it ourselves, and we stand by that. On Ms Holmes we think this looks kinda cute n’ casual, but for some reason, on the legs of the Acne model, it just looks like someone tried their best to roll their jeans, but failed. Maybe they should’ve taken note from Jennifer Aniston, seen rolling her jeans the right way…

Style Stealer: Katherine Heigl’s Diane Von Fursyenberg dress from the 2008 Hot in Hollywood event

We loved Katherine Heigl’s Diane Von Furstenberg dress at the 2008 Hot in Hollywood event, but knew we’d never be able to afford it, so when we discovered this lookalike at Additions Direct, we were mighty pleased with ourselves. The top of this dress is a different colour from Katherine’s of course, but as this dress is only £39, we think we could probably live with that. Get it here, if you love it too.

Celebrity Style Stealer: Danielle Lloyd wears Miss Selfridge’s red suede dress to the London premiere of 27 Dresses

We never thought we’d see the day when we’d do a Style Stealer featuring Danielle Lloyd – who, for the benefit of non-UK residents, is a former Miss England (Who was forced to give up her crown), who later appeared on Celebrity Big Brother and became embroiled in the Shilpa Shetty racism scandal before going on to forge a career as a footballer’s girlfriend. Danielle’s style tends to revolve around getting her boobs out at every opportunity, so she’s not someone whose style we’d normally advice stealing, but seeing as she’s put the boobs away for this event, and we’d been wondering what Miss Selfridge’s red suede dress looked like on, here she is. The dress is £60 and is…

Style Stealer: Lily Allen’s Topshop floral dress

The Fashion Police spotted Lily Allen out and about in London wearing this floral print dress from Topshop, which isn’t a style we’d particularly want to steal ourselves, we have to say, but which is £50, for the benefit of those of you who do. Currently (and typically, we would like to add) the dress is out of stock in everything except a size 10, but if you like it, you may just be able to find it in store, if you don’t want to wait for the website to be restocked. Whether or not you want to wear it with Ugg boots, a la Lily, is, of course, up to you…

Celebrity Style Stealer: Victoria Beckham’s little black dress

I know there was probably a car waiting for her just a few metres away, but my first thought on seeing Victoria Beckham out shopping in London in this little black dress was "God, she must have been freezing!" If it’s cold enough for gloves, Victoria, it’s cold enough for a nice, warm coat, and maybe a pair of tights, hmmm? OK, enough with the "sounding like Victoria’s mother", on with the real business of this post, which is to inform you all that Vic’s LBD is by What Comes Around Goes Around, and, for once, this is a piece of genuine Posh Spice style that you can steal without spending too much money, because it’s down to $209 at…

Style Stealer: Victoria Beckham’s beige lace prom dress

I realise I’m quite possibly alone in this, as in many things, but I loved the beige ruffled prom dress Victoria Beckham wore earlier this year – you know, back when she was parading Katie Holmes around like the latest must-have handbag. I, then, was pretty pleased to see that ASOS are now selling a version of that very dress which is not a kick in the ass off the original, for just £45. I’m not going to buy it, obviously – it would make me look naked and strangely frilly – but I am enjoying looking at it. It’s also available in black if you, too, are afraid of the "naked" look.

Style Stealer: Oli’s version of Victoria Beckham’s pink Roland Mouret ‘Moon’ Dress

The colour is different and the fabric isn’t quite the same, but this pink pleat neck dress from Oli is unmistakably "inspired" by Roland Mouret’s "Moon" dress, as seen on Victoria Beckham. Oli are far from the only ones to be making copies of this dress – Topshop did one and Tesco have one too, apparently, so this one simply adds to the collection of Moon-like dresses available. It’s £60 – a damn sight less than Mrs Beckham paid…. Victoria Beckham’s pink ‘Moon’ dress by Roland Mouret So, I understand Victoria Beckham’s TV documentary didn’t go down too well in the States. That’s too bad. Love her or hate her, though, you surely must concede that this dress is to…

Style Stealer: Hilary Swank’s little black dress at the Time for Peace Awards

Hilary Swank was showing off her new short crop this weekend (she’s donated her hair to Pantene’s Beautiful Lengths, to help women coping with cancer), and was also showing off this classic little black dress with jewelled neckline. Oli’s black satin dress doesn’t have the bow at the waist that Hilary’s does, but that’s easily fixed with a belt or a length of ribbon. It’l cost you £59 to steal Hilary’s style. Her figure and face we can’t really help you with, unfortunately…

Jackie O Fashion: Chic tailoring from Wallis

Even although I have absolutely nowhere to wear a suit like this, I’ve been admiring it ever since the images dropped into my inbox on Friday night, and imagining how someone like Jackie O would have totally rocked that boat-necked jacket and tailored skirt. It has a real retro look to it, which really appeals to me, even although I’d probably feel like a little girl playing dress-up in her mother’s clothes if I tried to wear it. It looks like it’s crying out to be worn with a hat and seamed stockings, but I’d probably try and jazz it up a little with some spike=heeled knee boots, just so that I didn’t look too much like a character in…

Style Stealer: Cheryl Tweedy’s high waist jeans and check shirt

Yee-har! Ride ’em, cowgirl! Sorry, I couldn’t resist… This outfit looks cute on Cheryl Tweedy, but won’t be to everyone’s taste – especially not those of us who’ve shied away from the "high waist/wide leg" trend. For those of you who can, you’ll find both the high waisted jeans and  short sleeve check shirt at Topshop, the ankle boots and clutch bag at Faith and the belt at River Island. This outfit is a little more masculine than Cheryl’s, who’s found a prettier, frillier shirt than I have, but hey, it’ll also work for Halloween if you want to go in fancy dress as a cowpoke.

Fashion Police Fraud Squad: Phillip Lim v. TFNC

Behold, the black and white bib front dress! I predict great things from it this season, and so, apparently, does Phillip Lim, who’s selling this one for £395 at Net-a-Porter. TFNC, meanwhile, are asking just a little little bit less for their bib front dress, which you’ll find at ASOS for £40.

Style Stealer: Victoria Beckham’s pink ‘Moon’ dress by Roland Mouret

So, I understand Victoria Beckham’s TV documentary didn’t go down too well in the States. That’s too bad. Love her or hate her, though, you surely must concede that this dress is to die for. It’s Roland Mouret’s ‘Moon’ dress, and I predict it’s going to be the Galaxy dress of this year. It’s available to pre-order in black and white (no hot pink though, I’m afraid – Posh must’ve beat them to it) at Net-a-Porter, but it’ll cost you £990, so those of us who don’t have access to David Beckham’s bank account might just have to wait until the inevitable high street copies come out. Buy: Victoria Beckham’s pink Roland Mouret dress

Style Stealer: Rene Zellweger’s really quite strange little black dress

Now, I know a lot of you are going to be all, "The hell? What, on God’s green earth, would make me want to dress like Rene Zellweger  – especially when Rene Zellweger looks kinda like she was dressed by aliens". And yes, she does, doesn’t she? That black dress may be… interesting… but it also looks a bit like someone from the past’s idea of how people would be dressing in the future. Also: how did she sit down without crushing the …. the bits on it? Anyway, for those of you who do want to steal Rene’s style, who are we to stop you? (Oh yeah, we’re The Fashion Police. We’re supposed to do that, aren’t we?) This…

Style Stealer: Kate Moss’ festival fashion

So, according to a recent news report, people heading off to Glastonbury this weekend will be spending something in the region of £500 in order to try and emulate the Kate Moss festival look. And then, I guess, there’s all the money they must’ve spent on crack first, in order to get to be that stupid…  I mean, the woman wears jeans, wellies and a waistcoat, gets them all covered in mud, and probably doesn’t remember any of it anyway. Don’t do what Kate does, kids – although you can, if you wish, wear what she wears. Product details after the jump…

Style Stealer: Nicole Ritchie’s Kate Moss for Toshop dress

Here at The Fashion Police, we don’t care whether Nicole Ritchie is pregnant or not. No, all we care about is what she’s wearing, and, in this case, what’s she’s wearing is the Kate Moss for Topshop silk chiffon print dress, that’s what. £60 from Topshop, probably a whole lot more than that from eBay, and enough room to grown, should Nicole need it.

Style Stealer: Amy Winehouse’s Terry de Havilland painted mule

Some might call these Terry de Havilland shoes a crime of fashion. In fact, let’s make no bones about it: some might say that almost everything Amy Winehouse wears is a crime of fashion. And, you know, if we wanted to be really mean, we could even suggest that Amy herself is a crime of fashion, with that big ol’ birds nest hairdo and that scary, skeletal body. But we’re not going to say any of that, because we can sort of see where Amy was going with these.  We can sort of see that , if  we  were "rock stars" , like Amy, and we were  looking for an unusual pair of shoes to wear with our little denim…
