Maison Martin Margiela’s “sleeve top” makes an easy DIY project

If you're a Martin Margiela fan, this top will probably delight you, because at just £88, it's definitely one of the cheaper ways to own one of his pieces.

If even that sounds like a little too much for you, though, don't worry, because The Fashion Police have put together these helpful guidelines to allow you to make a "sleeve top" of your very own. You are welcome.

1. Find an old sweater that you no longer wear.

2. Cut off the sleeves.

3. Sew them together.

4. Er, that's it…

And there you go! We may be in the middle of a recession, but you can still look like you're wearing designer clothes. Isn't fashion wonderful?

I can hear my husband laughing as I strolled into the room with this on!!!
You would at least want to cut off the cuffs, right?

That’s one of the dumbest items of clothing I’ve ever seen. A gust of wind would reveal all your assets if the top wasn’t taped on. I think it would work better as a scarf though.

there’s no back to this thing? do you use duct tape to hold it closed? this cannot possibly be a “for-real” piece of clothing…well, maybe if you were a streetwalker or pole-dancer…

cesibon – there is a back: it’s kinda hard to see it in the picture but there’s a narrow band across the back to hold it on.

Who doesn’t want a pair of blue cuffed sleeves around the neck?
