Hollywood’s Biggest Night: The Best and Worst Looks From the 2018 Oscars

Hollywood’s biggest night finally arrived! The 90th Academy Awards were held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Otherwise known as the Oscars, the ceremony is regarded as the most important occassion in the entertainment industry. While most of this year’s awards season has been dedicatd to making a political statement, with most artists choosing to wear black as a symbol of the Times Up movement, the 2018 Oscars ceremony was different. Most of the famous faces chose to wear bright color and many still stood with the movement against sexual assault, sporting their Times Up pins. It was a truly amazing red carpet, with some breathtaking ensembles…and some head-scratching ones. We’ve put together our Top 5 Best of the Best and Top 5 Worst of the Worst. Check them out below:

The Best of the Best

Emma Stone

Oscars Best Dressed

Emma Stone looked absolutely flawless in this Louis Vuitton pantsuit. Last year’s Best Actress winner sported this color-blocking ensemble that we thought was absolute perfection. The simple hair and makeup round out the look, making it our favorite of the 2018 Oscars.

Lupita Nyong’o

Oscars Best Dressed

This gold and black dress looked nothing less than stunning on Lupita Nyong’o. The dress itself is head-turning, and it fits Lupita beautifully. We’re also in love with her gorgeous hair, which was inspired by traditional Rwandan hairstyles.

Allison Williams

Oscars Best Dressed

We think that Allison Williams was a total dream in this dress! The hair and makeup is reminiscent of old Hollywood style, and the dress is so simple and whimsical. She looks like an absolute princess!

Mary J. Blige

Oscars Best Dressed

Mary J. Blige walked the red carpet in one of the most elegant gowns we’ve ever seen. The silhouette of this dress is beyond beautiful. She looks so regal and classic. She made our jaws drop the moment we saw her!

Allison Janney

Oscars Best Dressed

Allison Janney wore one of our favorite dresses of the night with this bold red gown. The long statement sleeves are fantastic, and that necklace is to die for! As if looking like a million bucks wasn’t enough, Allison won the award for Best Supporting Actress for her role in I, Tonya.

The Worst of the Worst

Salma Hayek

Oscars Worst Dressed

What even is this mess? This reminds us of a child dressing up as a princess for Halloween. The color, the ruffles, and the sequins on the dress, the weird jewels draping her chest and shoulders…this is all too much.

Whoopi Goldberg

Oscars Worst Dressed

We adore Whoopi Goldberg, but we can’t stomach this dress. The print is utterly crazy and way too distracting for an awards show like the 2018 Oscars.

Andra Day

Oscars Worst Dressed

Much like Whoopi Goldberg’s dress, the print on Andra Day’s dress is just way too much. It reminds us of an old woman’s couch, not an Academy Award gown. Then there’s the poufy sleeves! Sorry, Andra. We still love you, though!

Lindsey Vonn

Oscars Worst Dressed

She may be an incredible athlete, but we’re not so sure about her fashion choices. This dress has some strange cut-outs and then the feathers on the bottom just send it over the top. We’d feel more comfortable with this dress at something like the MTV Awards.

Kelly Ripa

Oscars Worst Dressed

She’s one of America’s sweethearts, but this dress is anything but sweet. From the front it looks fine, but as soon as Kelly Ripa turns around, we’re slapped in the face with that multi-colored mess. What was she thinking?
