Fabulously Fashionable: Emily Rossum gets it right in white

White can be such a difficult colour to wear sometimes, but Emily Rossum wore this gorgeous white Donna Karan dress to the Redbook Strength and Spirit Awards last night, proving that yes, you can wear white after Labour Day, and you can do it without looking like a blushing bride, too.

I love the sweet simplicity of this style, and how she’s kept the accessories to a minimum, just adding silver peep toes and earrings. Add the red lipstick and perfect skin and you have a modern Snow White look which is absolutely gorgeous.

Fabulously Fashionable: Hilary Swank visits London

HilaryswankI have a soft spot in my heart for Hilary Swank, and I’m just going to come right out and admit it: it’s because she was in Beverly Hills 90210. God, I loved that show. Kelly was my favourite. Of the girls, I mean. Dylan was my overall favourite. I liked Carly too, though, and so it is that every time I see Hilary here at some photocall or other (this one is for Guerlain’s ‘Insolence’ fragrance) I do a little, involuntary "squee!" and think, "Lookit little Carly, all growed up!"

She turned out pretty good, didn’t she? Although this isn’t a great picture of this dress, it’s one of those totally-to-die-for forties-influenced numbers, with a little nipped-in waist and a lovely draped shoulder. And yes, I do know you can hardly see it at all here, which means I must’ve just wanted to talk about that whole 90210 thing. Ah, well. Love the outfit, Hil. Tell Steve I said "hi"…

Fabulously Fashionable: Kate Bosworth at the 11th Hour premiere – get her Jill Sander dress at Browns

Despite her regular flirtations with extreme weight loss, Kate Bosworth usually manages to look very elegant when she’s scrubbed up for an evening out. I don’t normally like one-shouldered dresses (or one-shouldered anythings, for that matter), but this outfit is simple and understated, with just the white dress and black accessories. I like.

Edited to add: I just found Kate’s Jill Sander dress at Browns. If you like it, be prepared to pay £665.

Fabulously Fashionable: Rihanna at the BET Awards

It’s just a few short weeks since Rihanna was pulled up on this very site for crimes against fashion, but baby, look at her now… White dresses can run the risk of looking a little too "bridal" for most red carpets, but this one is just right, with its slinky shape and little ruffled hemline. Of course, you’d need a figure like Rihanna’s to be able to wear it, but I guess that’s not something the lady herself has to worry about.

I’m also loving her hair in this picture – gotta love that oldtime Hollywood glamour!
