Christian Louboutin must wonder what the hell he started. One minute he’s got the only red soles in town, suddenly everyone’s got ’em – even Dorothy Perkins.
Take these black slingback peep toes, for example. Fairly stadard shape, nothing too special, but nothing too offensive, either. But wait a minute: is that the hint of a red sole I see on the back of the heel there? Yup, looks like it. At £25, these are never going to be mistaken for Louboutins, of course, but what does everyone think about the red sole turning up everywhere? I feel The Fashion Police should probably be taking some sort of stance on this, but I have to admit that I have a pair of New Look gold peep toes – with a red sole… So, does it detract from the allure of The Real Thing, or is it just another example of the way trends filter down to the high street?
