Designer on a Budget: Polka dot shift dresses by Marc Jacobs and Zara

Now, we’re not necessarily saying we’d buy or wear either of these two dresses, and we’re certainly not saying they’re identical in every single way.

What we WILL say, however, is that if a sudden hankering for a polka dot shift dress did happen to come over us, we know which one we’d choose.

We’re not going to tell you, though. No, we want to hear which one YOU’D choose instead: designer or high street? Do tell…

Ooh. I like both. But may have to go look at the Zara dress in real life. Quite tempted by it.

Definitely the second one–I love it! The 3/4-length sleeves and boat neck just work a lot better with the style of the dress.

I like the Zara version better because of the sleeves.

3/4 sleeves look so good with 60s-ish mod-ish style dresses. Plus, they’re super flattering and slimming, which can only be better than the cap sleeves!
On the model, the boat neck looks really nice, but unfortunatly, they don’t seem to suit my less than well-endowed chest and sharp chin!
Overall, if given the choice, I’d go for the Zara version, mainly because the one-to-wear-once nature of the dress makes it totally unjustifiable- unlike classic designer jeans, pumps, blouses, blazers and LBDs!

neither. I’ve never been able to look at polka dots (at least not this close set) without feeling physical pain in my eyes. I don’t think it’s ugly, the pattern just always makes me dizzy and makes my eyes sting 🙁

polka dots, although quirky, are classic. i would invest in this one!

I like the cap sleeve better, but could never afford the MJ pricetag. So, I’d buy & love the 3/4 sleeve one.
