Big Labels don’t always spell effortless style: Allegra Hicks gets it way off: Guest Post from Une Very Stylish Fille

Une Very Stylish Fille writes… When I think of designer fashion, I feel a pang of longing in my stomach. Don’t get me wrong, I’m by no means a fashion lovey, but sometimes those handstitched details and gorgeous fabrics are just calling out to a girl like me. But then there’s the ever present "What were you thinking? AT THAT PRICE?" moments. If there’s one dress I’ve seen of late that sums up my ill feelings towards the hype around labels, it’s this pink tent by Allegra Hicks. What would any stylish girl wear this with? When Metallics Go Bad: Guest Post by Amy of Talk Fashion to Me

Amy writes… Every follower of fashion will have noticed by now that metallics have become a major trend. A trend that I, as a lover of all things shiny, have completely bought into. Metallics are a wonderful way to add a little extra oomph to any outfit. But even I have to admit that some metallic items have basically been a display of a whole lot of wrong. It’s a bit difficult to tell from the picture, but this Christensen and Sigersen dress is, in part, composed of metallic green lace. This week Peta launches a new anti-fur campaign, which seems to mostly revolve around spitting out a lot of venom at the Olsen twins – or "the Trollsen Twins" as Peta have "hilariously" dubbed them. There’s a Trollsen Twins website, Trollsen Twins merchandise, a Trollsen Twins video, and the opportunity to dress up "Hairy Kate" and "Trashley". Now, I don’t wear fur, and I agree with the sentiments behind Peta’s work. That said, as much as I don’t like fur, I don’t much like Peta either, or the childish, bullying way they go about trying to put their opinions across, and I can’t help thinking they could educate people much more effectively without all the venom and nastiness, which just…

Five UK Fashion Stores we’d like to see selling online

Last week when I was writing about Matalan’s current shoe collection and bemoaning their lack of an online shopping facility, it suddenly occurred to me that there are lots of other great stores in the same position – and that my life would be so much more stylish (albeit poorer) if I could just whip out my credit card and shop from them online, rather than having to haul ass all the way to their nearest store, only to find out that the thing I’m looking for is sold out in my size anyway. So, here they are, the top five UK fashion stores the Fashion Police would love to see opening up online stores. They can consider this a…
