Who skinned Grover? Marni’s alpaca fur handbag

Marni_handbag

We just can’t help it – any time we see fashion items made from fur of a colour that doesn’t occur naturally, our thoughts turn to the cast of Sesame Street and we wonder which dastardly fashion criminal skinned them?

This Marni handbag isn’t quite the colour of poor old Grover, mind you, but we’d still probably think of him every time we looked at it, and we reckon that’s what’s putting us off this bag. That and the fact that we’d have to groom it to keep it looking good, and that just sounds like way too much effort for us. Oh, and that’s saying nothing of the price tag, either: £1,215.

What do you think of this bag, folks? Would you buy it?

For a blog about fashion, you sure do talk about yourself a lot. But, yes, that does look like grover. Now, would you please stop writing about yourself all the time using the royal “we.” You may be very proud of your fashion savvy, but use of the royal we all the time is tacky writing, especially when it comes across as 1 person trying to sound like a big publication.

I’d disagree with that. It’s a woman writing for a primarily female audience and I would guess that most of us – like myself – don’t mind the personal touch.
It’s a blog about fashion – not classical literature.

wow, that was unnecessary. Anyway, I kind of like the bag! I tend to think of a stuffed animal rather than a muppet, and a bag that doubles as a cuddle companion is alright in my book 😀

Quite an extreme reaction – I for one like the writing style used on The Fashion Police.
I like the colour of the bag, and the style, but I’m not keen on the fur.

Oh, go and stick your nose in a rubber hose, Ms. Snyder. These blog posts are always written in an entertaining manner. If you want a different style of fashion reviewing, look elsewhere.
Well, you know what I usually do with hairy or furry fashion items – Photoshop the hell out of them! http://i36.tinypic.com/x8sbd.jpg
However, I have to admit – I actually rather like this bag!

I love the color of the bag, but I’m just not a big fan of furry.
Now, Mousy’s version of the bag is hilarious.

“For a blog about fashion, you sure do talk about yourself a lot.” —-> coming from someone who has probably read, like, three posts!
Nate Snyder, go find a fashion blog you like, there are a million out there. We actually rather like what Amber is doing so leave us alone!
Oh, and, sorry Fashion Police, but I LOVE the bag! Damn, I wish I had £1200!

I usually hate anything furry with a passion. But something about the colours or the shape of the bag makes it kind of cute.
I wouldn’t go so far as to say I’d buy it.
    But it does look cuddly!

    Excellent, Mousy!
Oh and re the use of ‘we’, I believe, the blog is written to sound like a law enforcement agency and not a publication. Perhaps complaints should be referred to the IFPCC…

I will never buy this bag. It looks like the fur of a dirty blue dog that you put a belt on. It’s not what I named fashion at all.

OMG! Yesterday I saw a lady wearing a coat made of the same Muppets fur… I hope she does not find out about this bag, because the two put together would be… no, I can’t even think of it.

    The Fashion Police

OK, I’ve been away for a couple of weeks, so have only just seen these comments, but just wanted to say thanks to those of you who said you like the site – that means a lot!
In response to Nate Snyder: “The Fashion Police” is basaically a persona: as Rock points out, it’s a fictional law enforcement agency, and that’s why it’s written in the 3rd person. Although you think I write a lot about myself, it’s not actually about “me”, but written from the persepective of “The Fashion Police”, and that’s a purely stylistic decision, which has nothing to do with my massive ego 🙂
Clearly, though, anyone with a relatively popular blog (or any blog, really) has to accept that not everyone will like the writing style, etc. We get many thousands of visitors per day here, and it would be impossible to please every single one of them, so all I can do is hope that those who really dislike the style for whatever reason will simply go and find a blog they DO like, rather than hang around trashing this one. And, of course, thank those of you who DO like the site for your continuing support of it 🙂
