Wear or Die: Shirt Dresses

It’s been a long time since we last played Wear or Die – the game where everyone’s a loser – so we thought it was high time we forced our readers to choose between two ugly items of clothing again!

For this Wear or Die, we’re dipping our toes into the murky waters of the shirt dress: for yes, readers, the two items you see before you are, indeed, dresses, not just ugly shirts. We’ve given you the choice here between two very different styles: the down-and-out option A (ยฃ60 at Topshop) , or the frilly, new-romantic style of option B (ยฃ25 at Desire Clothing). We wouldn’t want to wear either of them, personally, but what if you HAD to wear one? What if you had to choose one of these dresses: or die?

That’s the choice that’s before you now readers, so tell us: which one do you choose?

Oh totally B! Nice red belt to nip in the waist and some black heels with tights (don’t want to look tarty now).

I’d have to go with option B, without the frills on the chest it would be an interesting shirt.

Option A. I’m not a fan of ruffles and I kinda like the grunge look. I know I could rock the dirty old man shirt better than the frou frou ruffly one.

My fashion brain has really come a long way. I’d wear them both. This would have not happened a year ago.

I definetely go to option B! In fact, as Hannah pointed out, with the right complements it wouldn’t be that bad… No difficult choice here.

B, most definitely. If it didn’t have the strange hitched bottom, I might actually like it!

Option B, with a padded bra, black tights and knee-high boots.

The padded bra is to distract people from the weird hip things ๐Ÿ˜‰

I’d rather look like a secretary than a mechanic. So B. But with leggings, because it’s looking very short in all the wrong places.

hmm if i go with A i’d look like i should be on peopleofwalmart.com and if i go with B i’d look like a maitre d at a levelor blind sponsered fancy banquet…they are both terrible colors for me…either would make me look ill
hmmm…if B weren’t white i’d grab it…so i’ll take A because the monster face on the left boob looks hillarious

Ooh, deffo B. Maybe you older ladies won’t like the grunge look all us skinny teens are rocking, but that is cos you don’t know the secret of oversized shirt + black leggings + flats + messy hair = instant fashion kudos (en plus, what are those little black things at the top of that shirt? Oh. Their frills. Starched frills. Riiiiight…)

A; I think it would look cute with a belt and tights or something…..B would be ok as a shirt, it doesn’t really look like a dress. And what are those things hanging down from it?

Since Option A is closer to menswear, I’d pick this one. But I’d prefer women to pick Option B. Maybe I should ask my girlfriend what she thinks about Option B.

Either. My god, this is what being a fashion student does to me. ๐Ÿ™ It makes me inclined to wear freaky clothes. I know they’re freaky, and yet I would wear them.

I actually really like option A. It could be a little shapeless, but with leggings and boots it’d be pretty sweet and comfy. I happen to think B is hideous.

Option B if I was going out in public. Without that bottom part it would be kind of cute!

Option A if I was cleaning the garage.

Definitely option B! I have one in gray just like it! I LOVE shirt dresses, they look amazing with the top unbuttoned, a corset style belt, leggings and statement heels! definitely something i wear almost every time i go out, comfortable, and i can sleep in it with no problem! I love this style…although option A looks like a shirt your father has hiding in his closet from some construction job gone wrong…

Wow… What’s wrong with B? It’s totally interesting, if you know how to wear it!! And have the figure for it.
Option A should be burnt…. Seriously… And the designer fired… Or better yet… Sell it to Amy Winehouse… It really defines her personality.

hmm…I used to have fun at school with my friend, laughing at the wear or die section…until…this website got blocked by the board of studies… ๐Ÿ™ it was totally educational! –what NOt to design! ahahahaa

Option A tucked into doulbe short denim shorts, a beige belt, a round straw hat, colourful wellies and long grey socks poking out of them and have the shirt unbuttoned alot with a white vest underneath! To like a festival but take the shirt off and wrap it round me pretending it’s a boys i came with!
