Style on Trial: Valentino’s lace court shoes

We’ve always loved Valentino: the shoes, the dresses – everything really, but let’s be honest: it’s mostly about the shoes.

Lately, though, the brand has branched out a bit, into the realm of shoes that look like they could be doing with a good trim. First we had Camilla Belle’s out-of-control ruffle shoes, and now we find these court shoes, which have a large amount of lace running riot all over them.

Well, it’s certainly an interesting niche for Valentino to decide to occupy, but as these cost $6,216, we’re just not sure there’s going to be a huge amount of demand for it. What do you think?

Ooooh, but these look pretty! at least when presented like this, on a white background and all… They are like something a faerie would wear, or an elf. Not sure how they’d look in real life, though!

Not very wearable, but pretty to look at.

If I were in the realm of being a person attending the red carpet, I would definitely wear these there.

Probably not the hardest-wearing shoe ever made, but they’re beautiful!

Am I the only one who thinks these look like what I pull out of my brush after a tangled day? (laugh) But the idea is a lovely one, you can tell.

I love these shoes! They’re so artistically beautiful! If I ever had the money and a red carpet to waltz down they’d be mine! Of course then a gorgeous couture cocktail dress would also be needed to go with them…. *sigh*

i’m kinda iffy on the back but the front is super gorgeous. I think there should be extra lace just on the front & front sides. 🙂

I love them, they are so extravagant and beautiful! They were designed for Valentino by milliner Philip Treacy, who made *that* green headpiece SJP wore to the SATC premiere. All of his designs are very aesthetically pleasing! x

GORGEOUS shoe! Of course it’s not very wearable, but what work of (shoe) art is? The most beautiful high heels are best suited for a museum shelf 😉

These manage to be artistic and wearable at the same time, as long as you don’t go dancing all night! I would love to have a pair, and would probably display them when they weren’t on my feet.

I would wear them any day, even if there not practicle, there so pretty. The back of it is like one of thoes lace collars that the rich women used to wear. Its so pretty! if i even had the $6,000 i would buy a pair, even if i didnt get much of a chance to wear them. Awww! i wish i had the money!

I actually find these quite beautiful, ethereal in a sense. Definitely a shoe reserved for only special occasions. It’s delicate and feminine and almost fairytale-like, but in a grown up way.
    I love it.
