Ugly Prom Dress Alert: Camouflage and brown paper?

Jovani Camouflage sequin mermaid prom dressYes folks, it’s prom season again with all those Christmas party and ball invitations about to come flooding in any moment.  And what are you going to wear to your special event this year?  How about this little number, which appears to be made from old army camouflage uniforms, and brown paper?  With added sequins for that holiday pizazz!   Just the thing, right?  Jovani clearly think so as this is just one of their designs that features the brown paper-like fabric, and there are more featuring prints not dissimilar to the camouflage one shown here.

Sadly, this is only available to buy in stores, so bad luck if you’re not in the US.  If you are in the US and you want this dress, you can check out the list of Jovani stockists here.

The print is ok, not bad… I think it could be put into good use… Like say a simple cut, summery tank top or something – the print would really work. But as a complicated gown – NO!!!

And the scary thing: this is one of their more subdued looks… just flicking through their prom dresses makes me want to cry… leopard print with neon pink tulle overlays… pleated acid-trip coloured fabrics… who buys these?!

Oh, the horror! The Fashion Police had better not venture into that website too often or they’ll have to build a few more prisons…

Well, the model at least looks insanely gleeful about it.

I just about to comment on that.

I was unsure of what disturbed me the most. The hideousness of the dress or the fact that the model seems to hold no qualms about wearing said hideous dress.

I like the shape of the dress, but the fabric and print are terrible. And the model’s psycho smile scares the hell out of me.

Geeze, cut that tail thing of the end!
Make it a mini & it would at least be ok.

    I never liked camouflage.

This dress must be sentenced by the Military Fashion Police. Hence, it faces a much stronger punishment than if it fell into the department of the regular Fashion Police.

That looks like MY prom dress! But mine isn’t shiny. It’s black with a tiny, subtle grey print of swirls 🙂

When I saw this, i had a flashback to my own prom. Yes, my own grad. sigh.
A girl I worked with ordered this exact dress. She is a hunter and a total tomboy (hence the camo all over and ugly brown paper) and isn’t good (at all) at dressing her own body type (size 16? No shape wear underneath? Are you kidding me?) Anyway, at least it as a little better than all the high neck, long sleeve modest religious dresses. And all that made me look stunning in my ‘how to lose a guy in 10 days’ inspired gown. Suckers!

If you live in a small town where this is cool, than this dress is very nice. It is made for a certain crowd of people to appreciate. Don’t be so judgmental. I’d like to see that you guys can make. I like it.
