Dress of the Day: Topshop’s floral print prom dress

Prom_dress

This dress almost didn’t make it to Dress of the Day. All week we’ve been looking at it and we’ve been wondering: do we love it? Do we hate it? If we post it, will people mistake it for the Ugly Dress of the Day? Does it look like something Chloe Sevigny would wear? All these questions and more have been rushing around in our tiny minds, and they’ve been making us feel quite ill, if you want to know the truth. But you know what? It’s Friday. It’s been a long week. There is wine in the fridge. So this is your Dress of the Day, folks, and you can take it or leave it at will. (If you want to take it, though, it’s £50 at Topshop.)

Personally I think it’s gorgeous – but I agree it’s on that love-hate border. On the wrong person that print would be overpowering.

i think that it’s a bit too much on its own, but if you mute it a bit with a nice, simple cardigan or something like that it would be nice.

I love it, but strapless doesn’t go well with an F-cup and anyway I’ve yet to see the Topshop dress with fabric quality that makes it worth 50 quid.

In fact I have worn a very similar dress at my graduation dance. Mine had much paler colours though, and more white as a background.
So while I love the cut of it, the colours of this one are a little too loud for my taste.
