To Buy or Not to Buy: Stuart Weitzman’s ‘Woodbow’ pumps

Peeptoes Taylor writes,

Dear Fashion Police,

I’ve been invited to a wedding this summer (yes, me and everyone else) and I’m going to play it safe in a black strapless dress, which I want to accessorize a bit to make it less boring. I was thinking pink? Anyway, these bow peep toes from Nordstrom are what I was thinking of wearing on my feet, but they are $299, which is expensive. Do you think I’ll be able to wear them again, or are they too "weddingy"? I don’t want to spend the money on something I’ll only wear once. ~ Taylor

Taylor,

You had me from "bow peep toes". Quite honesty, this is my favourite style of shoe right now and I think these are gorgeous, so I say buy, buy, buy! If you can afford them, anyway. And yes, I think you would totally be able to wear again: you can wear them with any black dress, obviously, but you could also probably get away with them with trousers, jeans, and anything that will work with the colour – which is quite a lot.

That said, there are lots of shoes around at the moment in this style, but for much less cash, so if you’re not sure, you may want to shop around a bit and find something similar but cheaper.

Over to you, readers: help Taylor work out whether To Buy or Not to Buy!

Those shoes are adorable and I agree that they can be worn with a lot. However, if you didn’t want to drop $300 there are many alternatives out there – check these out:

Definitely a buy! But, to agree with the others, if you can find them cheaper, please do. And they would be HOT with a pair of jeans and a cute top!

These are definitely not too wedding-y they are lovely.
I would say though, if you can afford them then get them, because you can always tell expensive shoes from cheap ones. Not to say that the cheaper ones are bad. Just that you’ll get more life out of these (probably) and they would surely be more comfortable – definitely a consideration – you want to be able to dance at the wedding (not to mention all the standing around you have to do – waiting for photographers etc…)

I don’t wear heels – damn my balance problems! – but if I did, these are the kind I would buy. I have a pair of peeptoe flats with a bow, and you can wear them with just about anything – dresses, skirts, jeans and a cardie. They’re lovely 🙂

I saw the links listed above, and I think the ones you chose are much better, obviously the price says so. If you´re going to wear them again, definitely buy them!!
I´m looking for the same shoes in camel for a friend´s wedding too…

I would agree that these shoes seem to be ones that can be worn for a variety of occasions, formal or not.

Lovely. Would really spice up a black dress or jeans, for that matter.
Cheap version I found: http://www.wetseal.com/catalog/product.jsp?productId=7761&valentines2008′ defer

You can definitely tell the expensive pair from the cheaper alternatives! Also love love love the colour of the Nordstrom pair; not as tacky as hot pink can be.
My suggestion would be to buy them if you can afford them, and you can definitely wear them again – I think they’re able to be dressed up or slightly dressed down depending on occasion.
