OK, so she’s still got the “sulky teenager” look down, and the heavy eye-makeup is still in place, but at least Taylor Momsen’s outfit is a bit of a step up from her usual “Just got out of bed in last night’s clothes, didn’t bother to put on any pants” look, no?
Taylor is seen here arriving at the Marchesa show at New York Fashion Week. Taylor has been complaining to FHM recently about how no one ever talks about her shoes:
“I love stripper shoes and I always try to find the tallest ones. I’m always surprised no one talks about my shoes. I’m, like, on stage in 15-inch heels but people talk more about my eye make-up, which has stayed the same forever. I always think that’s funny.”
Ever ones to oblige a celebrity in distress, let’s all talk about Taylor’s shoes, then. These aren’t the “stripper shoes” she mentions in this quote (We actually have talked about those, now we come to think of it…), but do you think these beige, pointy toed pumps are an improvement? What about the look in general: guilty or innocent?
Sometimes celebrities make The Fashion Police’s job much too easy.
Seriously, there’s really a lot that we could say about this photo, and about Taylor Momsen’s emerging, er, “fashion” style in general. Things like “trashy”, “hooker”, “where the hell are her parents?” and “Lindsay Lohan” spring to mind. But let’s face it: you were thinking those things already, weren’t you?
Taylor, honey? We know you probably think you’re being “ironic” or something. But you’re dressed like a hooker. And you’re 16. The best tip we can give you, then, is this one: put some clothes on. Before the real police catch up with you…

True, Taylor was performing here with her band, The Pretty Reckless, at the NYLON party at The PUMA Social Club, so this technically counts as stage attire, which we normally give a free pass to, but given that the outfit is pretty much what Taylor wears all the time, we’re not so sure. All we know is that if she were our sixteen-year-old daughter, she’d be grounded.
A cosy, winter look for Taylor Momsen’s Gossip Girl character Jenny Humphrey, seen here in in NYC this week. We’re loving the hat and scarf, and as we currently feel like we’ll never feel warm (or be able to leave the Fashion Police HQ ever again), we can even get on board with the boots, making this perhaps the only time you’ll ever see us advocate the type of boots that our mother’s would describe as “stout”.
When we talked about animal print faux fur earlier this week, some of you were of the opinion that it really only works – if it works at all – on younger women. Whatever your postion on that, though, we’d like to suggest that pink fur, on the other hand, doesn’t really look good on women of any age. Sorry, Lindsay.
We’d also like to suggest that when Donatella Versace could be your slightly older sister, it’s probably a good idea to tale a step away from the peroxide. And speaking of Donatella Versace:
One of these glamorously dressed ladies looks like a Fashion Criminal to us. At least one other is deserving of a Fashion Police badge for good behaviour. What we want to know is whether you share our thoughts on these fine celebrities, which is why we’re asking once again: who was the best dressed of the day?
Was it Cate Blanchett, in her metallic gown, Christina Milian, who looks like she’s already won some kind of medal, a newly single and slightly gothic looking Liv Tyler, or did little Jenny Humphrey, aka Taylor Momsen float The Fashion Police boat? And which is the fashion criminal?
