Pregnancy must make red blue carpet dressing even more of a challenge than it is anyway, but Kate Hudson rose to the challenge perfectly at the premiere of ‘Something Borrowed’ last night – we love that yellow!
This time it’s the “Chopard Celebrates 150 Years of Excellence” Gala, and we think Christina Ricci managed to guarantee herself a huge slice of the attention by turning up in this full-length green gown. Gwyneth Platrow also went floor-length for the occasion, in a departure from her usual “short skirt/high heels” look, while Kate Hudson was the one relying on giant heels to complete her look this time.
Now, we know what we said about ponchos earlier this week. We weren’t exactly warm in our appreciation of them, were we? If ponchos must be worn, though, we think they ought to look like this one, as worn by Kate Hudson to the premiere of The Killer Inside Me last night. It’s by Louis Vuitton (not a brand we’ve ever really loved, we must admit), and while we probably wouldn’t have given it a second glance on the rack, we think Kate’s carrying it off exceptionally well, don’t you?
Underneath the poncho, Kate wore a black dress (also by Vuitton), which seemed determined to create a wardrobe malfunction for the actress: co-star Jessica Alba had to step in to prevent Kate “doing a Marilyn”, as we like to think of it. Take a look at the gallery to see what we mean, and to have a quick look at what Jessica wore, too!
This is the kind of thing we mean when we talk about the difference a dose of confidence can make to your clothes. This dress is so short it could actually qualify as a top, and we really hope she didn’t try to bend down in it, but there’s no doubt that Kate Hudson absolutely owns this look, and seems to be defying anyone not to like it on her.
Kate Hudson wore white to the Golden Globes last weekend, and she stuck to a similar theme for this week’s SAG Awards, in a backless Emilio Pucci gown which is almost as striking as that Marchea dress. A silver pendant dangling down her back draws attention to the bare skin, and once again, Kate manages to pull off a very dramatic look. What do you think of it?
Here comes the bride! Oops, no, our mistake, it’s just Kate Hudson: false alarm!
Actually, this dress makes us want to get married, just so we’d have a plausible excuse to wear it. (And something to catch the crumbs from the wedding cake in, too!) It’s by Marchesa, and is really a work of art, although whether it’s a good one or a bad one is, of course, up to you to decide. Kate wore it with a pair of chunky white platform shoes by Casadei. We wouldn’t imagine this would’ve been one of the most comfortable outfits of the evening, but was it worth it, do you think?
Christian Dior Couture and the Palace of Versailles. Seriously, can you imagine anything more perfect? Versailles was the setting for Dior’s 60′s birthday bash last night, meaning that the stars were out in force – and in Dior Couture creations, natch.
My first instinct when I saw this picture of Kate Hudson in yellow silk was to love it unreservedly. It’s such a dramatic dress, and I love a bit of drama, me. On second glance, though, I’m not too sure. This is the kind of dress that’ll look best when you’re moving (not that Kate’ll be doing much of that without tripping over that long hem), and I’m not keen on the way it outlines her body, like the Turin shroud. Whaddya think, fashion fans?
