This was, sadly, the only photo we have of Florence Welch’s “lampshade” dress from last night’s Costume Institute Gala.

We think it’s enough, though.

With Florence are Alexander McQueen designer, Sarah Burton, and Cate Blanchett. What do you think of their outfits?

Florence is just baiting us now, isn’t she?

Oh, and while we’re on the subject:

So is Alexa.

Is it just us, or does she essentially wear exactly the same outfit (short dress, opaque tights, trench, messy hair…) to EVERYTHING, and get called a “fashion icon” for it? Someone please explain this to us – we feel like if we could understand the appeal of Alexa Chung’s fashion, we’d be close to unravelling the mysteries of the universe…

Quick Yay or Nay: Florence Welch’s see through “shress”

We think this kind of dress is a great way to get people asking if you forgot something (like, you know, the rest of your clothes) but what say you to Florence Welch’s “shress”, as worn to the Givenchy show earlier this week, readers?

Yay or Nay?

Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine) fame, always looks to us like she’s just stepped right out of the pages of a fairytale. She has a style of dressing that’s just very “her”, and we have to admire her flair for the dramatic, which is exactly what we expect from our rock stars!

With that said, Florence IS wearing a lace “demi-shress” which can’t seem to make up its mind whether it’s a mini or a maxi. It would probably earn anyone else a Fashion Police citation, at the very least, but on Florence, well, it seems to work. Or does it?

What do you think?
