Fashion Police at the Met Costume Institute Gala 2010: Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein

Fashion Police at the Met Costume Institute Gala 2010: Diane Kruger in Calvin Klein

So far, this is one of the few outfits we’ve seen from the Met Costume Institute Gala that hints at the theme of the evening, which was  American Woman: Fashioning A National Identity. Diane Kruger’s dress is very “Calvin Klein” (and, indeed IS Calvin Klein), and, combined with the slicked-back hair, brings to mind the era of the American supermodels of the late 80s and early 90s.

All of that said, this gown is very unforgiving, and not many women would be brave enough to attempt it without the assistance of some industrial-strength Spanx, because it’s the kind of thing that will show up every lump and bump you posses, and possibly even a few that you weren’t even aware of. (And even WITH Spanx, we wouldn’t be brave enough to wear it on account of the fact that we’d be guaranteed to spill something down its pristine whiteness. Probably red wine. Or chocolate. Or both.)

If we could’ve picked anyone to try and pull off a dress like this, though, we’d almost definitely have picked Diane Kruger, who seems to have the ability to wear ANYTHING and make it look amazing. This is as simple as it gets, but it’s almost as stunning as it gets, too: brava, Diane! Continue reading

Fashion Police at the 2010 SAG Awards: Diane Kruger in Jason Wu

LFISAGS176 Fashion Police at the 2010 SAG Awards: Diane Kruger in Jason WuWe always look forward to Diane Kruger’s red carpet appearances, and she didn’t dissapoint at the SAG Awards this weekend, in this beautiful Jason Wu gown. The colour is unexpected, and wouldn’t work for a lot of people, but Diane carries it off beautifully. What do you think?

Fashion Police at the 2010 Golden Globes: Diane Kruger in Christian Lacroix Couture

LFI GOLDENGLOBES117 1 Fashion Police at the 2010 Golden Globes: Diane Kruger in Christian Lacroix Couture

We’re kicking off our Golden Globes coverage today with one of our favourite looks of the night: Diane Kruger in this bright pink Christian Lacroix couture gown. This is probably a “not for everyone” selection, but it’s very Diane, and we think she looks wonderful in it. Do you agree, though?

Diane Kruger in thigh-high boots at the Berlin premiere of Sherlock Holmes

FP 4354484 ANG Holmes Berli Diane Kruger in thigh high boots at the Berlin premiere of Sherlock HolmesIn direct contrast to Rachel McAdams, Diane Kruger went for a non-traditional look to walk down the red carpet at the Berlin premiere of Sherlock Holmes. We actually love this outfit on her – especially those thigh high boots! -  and we think it makes a nice change from the usual floor-length gowns, as much as we love them. But what do you think, readers? Place your votes in the poll below!

Star Style Wars: Diane Kruger Vs Angelina Jolie at the Inglorious Basterds premiere

LFI LABASTERDS056 Star Style Wars: Diane Kruger Vs Angelina Jolie at the Inglorious Basterds premiere

It's been a while since we last watched two celebrities slug it out in a round of Star Style Wars, so today we've put Angelina Jolie and Diane Kruger into the ring in a bid to find out who was the best dressed at the Inglorious Basterds L.A. premiere this week.

Both women wore black to the event, but they went for very different styles, with Angelina in black leather Michael Kors number, while Diane chose Atelier Versace, and lots and lots of texture.

Who's the winner of the Star Style War, though? Only you can decide…

What Celebrities Wear to the Airport: Diane Kruger in pegged jeans

Spl102513 001[1] What Celebrities Wear to the Airport: Diane Kruger in pegged jeans

For some reason, The Fashion Police are fascinated by photos of celebrities at airports. In some ways, we find this even more interesting than what they wear on the red carpet, because almost anyone can look good on the red carpet, with the help of a celebrity stylist and a borrowed gown. It's that little bit harder to still look good stepping off a long-haul flight, though, so we like to see what the celebs wear to fly in – or, in some cases, what they wear to strut through the airport in before getting changed on the plane.

We already know that Lady Gaga wears knickers and a bra to the airport, but here's the other side of the coin: Diane Kruger looking comfortable and casual in pegged jeans, a blazer and straw fedora. No makeup, either, unless we're very much mistaken.

We know which celerity WE'D rather dress like (clue: it's Diane) but what about you, oh readers? Do you dress up or down to travel?

‘That’ Giambattista Valli dress – as seen on Diane Kruger – now available at Browns

Spl64681 011[1] That Giambattista Valli dress as seen on Diane Kruger now available at Browns

We loved this dress when Diane Kruger wore it to the premier of 'Pour Elle' last December, and we loved it when Marisa Tomei wore it in black, a month later.

And now here it is, available for us mere mortals to buy for ourselves at Browns. Only not really, because it's £2,795. And you're probably going to need a red carpet to wear it on, because it's going to look pretty out of place anywhere else. Mind you, if you're getting married and are looking for a wedding dress with a bit of a vintage look to it, this could just be your baby. It's by Giambattista Valli, and you can buy it here.

Style on Trial: Diane Kruger at the ‘New Year’s in April’ dance

Spl93905 006[1] Style on Trial: Diane Kruger at the New Years in April dance

Good ol' Diane Kruger can generally be relied on to wear something attention-stealing on the red carpet, but what we want to know today is, did she steal your attention for good reasons or bad ones?

Here she is, attending the Friends of New Yorkers for Children 'New Year's in April' Benefit in NYC last night, wearing a feathery lilac creation in a style we've been seeing rather a lot of recently. Feathered dresses often tend to draw Big-Bird comparisons from our readers, and we can totally understand why, but what do you think of this one? Crime of Fashion or innocent of all charges?
