Style on Trial: Pedro Garcia Satin Wedge Sandals

The Pedro Garcia Satin Wedge, on sale for $187.50, is one of those shoes that gets more complicated the longer you look at it. Put it in the lineup with other standard black, chunky, strappy wedges and you might not immediately notice that it’s satin, putting it in a whole other category of possibly evening appropriate. But is a sandal so chunky actually evening appropriate?

While we can see an Alexa Chung type wearing these with socks during the day, and maybe a high schooler wearing them to homecoming with her first cocktail dress from Macy’s, we’re not sure the sophisticated fashionista would go there. So we’re asking some sophisticated fashionistas – what do you think?

I usually hate chunky shoes from the bottom of my heart, but I don’t think these are that bad. I wouldn’t wear them (and I would certainly never BUY them), but I’m thinking – there are people who insist on wearing chunky shoes, so if they must, these are less ugly than most.

I love wedges, but satin wedges? Um, no.

I really like these, in fact i’ve been looking for a wedge sandal like that that’s not too high.
I think they can work with cocktail attire; maybe for a party at an art gallery or something. I don’t think they can be worn with formal wear, but I think they could work if you went semi-formal.
