Style on Trial: Oasis Trompe L’oeil print tunic dress

It’s a dress… with another dress drawn on top of it. And we’re just not sure how we feel about that, although, granted, we can certainly see how it’ll make your waist look smaller without any effort at all, which is generally a very GOOD thing.

What do you think? Is this dress a good thing in general? Or is it a very BAD thing? Tell us in the comments, and if you want to buy it, head over here afterwards.

I like this. I like the white/pinky one much more than I like the black one though. I think I would wear the lighter one for sure 🙂

I’m just not sure about this. It isn’t offensive but it could pave the way for a plethora of other, more unsightly “dresses drawn over dresses”. But at least it is a dress, unlike that tank top with the single gauzy, zippered sleeve.

I actually like this, especially the nude/pink one. And, yeah, it will make your waist look smaller, so that’s obviosly a good thing. I’m not sure about it though… At least it’s only £35 though.

I think the drawn in dress makes the outfit rather tacky. Sort of like telling everyone that you wish you were several sizes smaller. I dunno, that’s just what first came to mind.

It’s not TOO bad. It’s kinda cute. Just try not to stare too hard because then it looks weird.

It does look weird, I agree, but I think I like it. Not sure if I would actually wear it.

Oh, horribly misleading, and kind of, well.. lazy.
It’s like saying- ohh I wish I was wearing this really pretty cocktail dress and a frilly skirt, because, you know, that’s the girl I’d LIKE to be, but instead I’ll just go with a drawn-on one.
As someone already said- novelty apron/wish I was a few sizes smaller thing.
    Tacky, very tacky.
I imagine it will be a big hit and spawn a lot of hideous little clones. Down with this sort of thing, I say!

Yeah, I don’t think “edgy” really has any place when it comes to designing uniforms for people to work in. People will have to wear these clothes every day, possibly for years: the design should be clean, functional and while it’s pretty much impossible to find a style that’s universally flattering, at least flattering to as many different body types/looks as possible. I supect only a select few will be able to make this look good, and the rest will just feel horribly uncomfortable in it, which won’t make for a happy working day!

I think I can pull off the white one with a black waist coat, black tights, high heeled booties and black wayfarers

Reminds me of those t-shirts with tuxes drawn on the the front, or those swim-suit cover-ups with bikinis/abs. Personally I don’t like those type of shirts, the ones that have necklaces on the front. They look cheap, like the person wished they were wearing that, but isn’t it “oh so cool” that at first glance, it looks like a dress, but wait…it’s a simplistic looking novelty dress. Clever. (not).

Neither the black or the lighter one is cute, although if I was forced to pick one, I would NOT choose the black. There are other ways to make your waist look smaller.

I have this top…BUT I have no idea what I’m meant to wear with it plus it hangs on me. I got it as a gift though and it does look 10 times better on the coat hanger than it does on!!
