Style on Trial: Libertine feather-sleeve jacket

We know many of our readers are big fans of feathered fashion, but what do you think of this Libertine jacket, we wonder?

We think it would be a bit like walking around clutching a couple of big, feathery pom poms all the time, like some kind of half businesswoman/half showgirl hybrid. And about the “businesswoman” bit: there’s a strange disconnect here between the all-business look of the tailored suit jacket and the extravagant, feathery sleeves. Who would wear an item like this? A lawyer who likes to make her closing arguments real show-stoppers? A company executive just desperate to let her colleagues see her “fun” side. You, perhaps?

Tell us, then: would you wear this jacket, and if so, where would you wear it? And would you be willing to pay $2,693 for it?

i was scrolling down slowly, saw the top part of the jacket, started thinking, “there’s nothing wrong with that”, then BAM! feathers. There is a total disconnect between the jacket and sleeves. I don’t get it.

Plus, it’s all frayed along the bottom, and I think that’s a big bunch of threads hanging down from the sleeve. So you’d not only be wearing a strange overpriced blazer, but a raggedy strange overpriced blazer.

    Rock Hyrax

People are going to wear it with only a bra underneath. You just wait…

if it was a one button, more tuxedo style, would have a much sexier look.. I like it, but it doesn’t quite hit the mark completely.. never have been able to cope with unfinished hems.
