Style on Trial: Giuseppe Zanotti leather and canvas boots

Leather and canvas.  Not the first combination you would think of for a pair of high end boots, is it?  And by high end, we mean £890 worth of boots.

These look like canvas boots with a leather trouser leg over the top which is a multiple crime of fashion in itself: boots pretending to be shoes with a trouser leg stuck to them (stuck together clothes crime right there).

Net-a-Porter describes this as ‘military inspired’ and ‘fashion forward’.  We call it ‘confused’ and ‘looks slightly odd when worn with pants’.

What do you think though readers?  Would you buy this style of footwear and so, would you spend almost £900 on it?  If you would, you can buy these boots here.

I really, really like them. Of course, they’re too expensive, but hey – that’s just the way it goes with designer boots.

In addition to the obvious crimes being committed by this pair of boots (as outlined in the post), I feel the need to point out the irony of the situation: first the fashion industry decides skinny jeans are in style, then Zanotti designs boots to create a look that no longer exists precisely because skinny jeans are in style… but if someone were to wear boot-cut jeans to naturally create this look, they would be ridiculed for their outdated sense of style!!!

I can imagine they may look better with a skirt, with jeans they just look…odd.

I like them just enough to give them a chance during winter. They look like they are wearing an extra cover for retaining heat.

I never knew that those things that look like shoes with material pulled over them were supplised to resemble the bottom of trousers. Can’d quite see the military inspiration, but am now imagining special martial arts troops using them to skewer their enemies in the chest via a flying kick…

I LOVE THESE SHOES! I’d wear them in a heart beat. Style is what you make of it. If you can pull it off than wear whatever you want and you’ll always look hot!
