Style On Trial: Cropped Tops

Cropped tops are making a huge resurgence this summer – so much so that Topshop even have a whole section dedicated to them on their website.  The example above is from Topshop.

What do you think of the trend though readers?  Do you think you need to be of a certain age or build to wear it?  If a longer tank or cami was worn underneath we personally can’t see anything wrong with the cropped look.  However, we feel that there is definitely an age limit to bearing your midriff (no matter what Carrie Bradshaw might have done in the past) and we are definitely past that limit.

Would you find yourself constantly pulling a crop top down?  Would your mother/grandmother say it looks as if your top has shrunk in the wash?  Will you be working this trend this summer?  Let us know in the comments.

No. No no no no NO.

Because for every 10 women out there who can pull it off, there are 90 who can’t – AND THOSE 90 WILL WEAR IT MORE THAN THE 10.

Please, for the love of all that is holy, NO.

Well, for youngins like me, let’s say around 10-15, if you have the body, then sure. If it’s summer. Or you could wear it over your bikini. I’m imagining living by the beach wearing this.
    Otherwise no.

    Hell, yes.
They look totally hot by themselves, with a high-waisted skirt/ pants/ jeans or under a camisole.
I love them with 70s style hotpants, sneakers and possibly a bikini for a beach.
Or you can layer them up with high-waisted jeans, a (lacey?) camisole and skyscraper heels for a more sophisticated look.

Here’s another time when trying to look casually cute requires daily 2 hour trips to the gym and still cannot ingest a tic-tac without risk.

The last time I wore a cropped top I was probably 16. I think shirts like these look best on people younger than I currently am.

I hate them, and I am in the size and age limit for them. If I’m spending money on something, I’d better not be only getting half the item.

anything in this length makes me look small and wide, two things i’d rather avoid, so no thanks. i was so happy about basic t-shirts and sweaters getting a bit longer again, after the very unflattering short shirt-low pants combos of the early 2000!

I love crop tops! I layer them with tight tanks underneath adn I guess I have the body for it. I think they are totally cute, but you have to be aware of what looks good for your body type and these don’t suit many people.
