Style on Trial: Clogs

Marni leather slingback cloggs

Where do you stand on clogs? Because as a rule, the Fashion Police are not fans. And yet, these brown leather slingbacks from Marni, well, they’re kinda pretty! Not cheap, mind, but certainly pretty…

Practical flat clogs can be great for work that requires enclosed toes, like gardening or carpentry or just going to the grocery store when you haven’t had a pedicure in weeks. And when I was younger I had a great pair with embroidered leather uppers and a sort of traditional low wooden sole/heel– those looked really cute in an “I got these on vacation in Northern Europe” kind of way. But these… I dunno, I get the feeling they’d make even the daintiest of feet look like hooves. 🙁

I like clogs. I’m picky about them though and I don’t like the pair pictured here. I have a Candies pair I love.

i have pretty big feet for my height so clunky shoes make me look like i’m wearing someone else’s feet. not for me.

If I was going to wear clogs, these would not be the pair. They remind me of the gladiator shoes that I also refused to wear.
