Style on Trial: Blake Lively in a red Marchesa dress

Figure skater or just plain fabulous? Tell us what you think of Blake Lively’s red Marchesa dress! But first, take a look at the back view:

One thing we will say – those shoes need to be a size or two smaller:

And whatever happened to Blake’s leg looks like it must’ve hurt, although obviously that’s neither here nor there.

What say you, fashion jurors?

Maybe she fell off her shoes – they are actually 1,5 size too large!

I was thinking more a fight in a furnishing store :/ The dress itself is quite pretty…its just the thick velvet top and scrunched up net skirt that just ruins it!

Usually I love marchesa and would go to great lengths to own one of their gowns but this just doesnt seem very right. Although she appears to be having fun

I actually LOVE the dress but have to agree with everyone else that the shoes are just way too big! And what is that a little bit above the ankle? EWW!

I like it, I like it. Reminds me of the Erdem dress which I doubly like.

I really do love the dress but I don’t think the colour works in this situation.

she is undoubtedly beautiful, but is it acceptable to go out with your crotch barely covered? Not in my opinion , no matter how gorgeous your legs are …

I liked the dress when I saw it on a model, but I didn’t know about the back.
If you’re gonna do sheer, at least keep the back closed. Also, I don’t think red really suits her.

I believe that dress with a longer skirt could be very beautiful, but I am of the opinion that you cannnot have a daring top and very short skirt at the same time and make it look good, it is one or the other.
And about the shoes, mmm maybe she has big arches like me and the only way those straps fit her is in a bigger shoe size or she didn’t had any other shoes available to fit that dress.

Doesn’t this dress look a lot like the “ugly” prom dress that we were discussing here a week ago or so?.. I mean this one: http://www.thefashionpolice.net/2011/03/ugly-prom-dress-alert-jovani-guilty-again.html
It’s the same concept, except the red one is even more revealing…

It kind of looks like mold, only red. Definitely not.

The top sorta reminds me of the winning dress on project runway when they had to design a costume for a figure skater.

I really do not like the dress. I don’t know why, but it makes me think of like a red fungus.

The shoes would be amazing if they fit, not a huge fan of the dress, though.

Having peeled my leg before in that very spot, it looks like a shaving injury to me. NOT PLEASANT.

And when I say peeled, I mean it!

And those shoes are ridiculous. They’re lovely, but come on, can’t stars borrow properly sized things?

Yeah, it definitely looks like a shaving injury to me. For some reason, I always kind of assumed stars never got those. I guess I thought famous people would know the magical technique for save shaving. I don’t know.
