Style on Trial: ASOS suede slash dress

Asos-suede-slashed-dress

Oh, that Clothes Ripper has been a busy, busy boy (or, indeed, girl) recently, hasn't he? Ripped and slashed clothing has been cropping up here, there and everywhere, in fact, and some of our readers have even come to like the slashed clothes, which is why we've decided to put this dress up On Trial, rather than just throwing it straight into the slammer.

It's by ASOS, it's suede, it's £100, and it's also available in black. Is it a crime of fashion, though? That's the only question we're interested in, and it's up to you to answer it. So, what do you think?

£100 for a dress that looks like its been put through the shreddder? Definite crime of fashion, lock it up and throw away the key.

Well, I wouldn’t wear it myself, but I wouldn’t be completely mortified if I saw it on somebody else. I think we’ve all seen much worse. It probably costs that much because it’s made from suede.

I doubt I’d wear it myself, but with a matching, just-as-long slip underneath, I think it could look amazing.

I think it looks like she has a tail. Overall it’s not the worst thing
I’ve seen, but the back really bothers me.

The dress reminds me of window blinds. But the model looks a lot like Rihanna!

If the under portion of the dress were as long as the slashed portion, I’d let it go with a warning.
But the extra length on the slashed part just breaks it.
    To the slammer with it!

“I think it looks like she has a tail.”
Mia said EXACTLY what I was thinking.

If the slashed part weren’t longer than the rest of the dress, I’d say let it go. As it is, lock it up.
