Strange Skirts: “divided” skirt by Bless

Divided_skirt

We’ve been staring at this skirt for quite some time now, but we’re still no closer to understanding it, we’re afraid.  From where we’re sitting, it looks like a regular, not particularly flattering, skirt with two large flaps sewn onto each side. As incomprehensible as that is to us in any case, the fact that you’d need to walk around like the model, holding the “flaps” out at your sides, in order for anyone to even know they were there makes it even more so. And the fact that it’s £364? More incomprehensible still.

Of course, it could just be a really bad photo. We hope so. We’re just not convinced it is, are you?

It looks like a pair of culottes with strange side bits to me. Whatever it is, put it out on community service – this thing need rehabilitating!

It also looks suspiciously like the sewed the front and back of the skirt together between the model’s legs.

By staring at the pictures I discovered a pocket in the right “flap”, and it says, in the description, that it has 3 pockets. So I guess those “flaps” are actually “things containers”, pretty useful… right?

Manu – you’re right! And oh my God, can you imagine those two side pockets, if that’s what they are, filled with stuff? How heavy and clunky it would be!
And I think Am and Peachfish are right here too about the cullotification of it, although it is described as a “skirt”. I think I’m just desitined never to understand it!

It looks to me as if they took a way-too-big (think Layne Bryant) skirt, and sized it to fit the model by putting a straight seam up either side. Not what I’d call flattering

It looks like a man’s suit jacket. Like the flaps should close and then you can open the flap like a man would reach into his suit jacket to get a business card/wallet. Fabric looks like a classic fabric for men..

I want to see how it looks when the model actually lets go of the fabric. Is it meant to give a cool, unexpected shape? Because somehow I’m not picturing anything pretty coming out of this garment..

It looks rather like a bat. A scary bat…That kind of wants to attack your hair – like in the movies.

If you google image search for “divided skirts” you’ll find a that they pretty much ARE culottes!
    Also, they’re terrible.

Why, just think of all the golf clubs you could store in those pockets!
