Shant Spotting: Jen’s Pirate Booty Chaka Khan Pants

Harem-shants

We should probably say here that, according to Shopbop, these shants are supposed to be worn as "beach cover-ups" – although quite what they're supposed to "cover up" is beyond us.

Still, we figured the fact that what we're looking at here is essentially a pair of $128 harem shants made them worthy of mention here. Well, that and the fact that they're made by a brand called "Jen's Pirate Booty". Isn't that fabulous?

I’m mostly just saddened by the lack of pirate theme to these shants. If pirate booty is in your name, I need more pirate in your fashion.

Oh Jen’s Pirate Booty, you drive a hard bargain. $128 for pants that in addition to barely being there have no functional quality whatsoever? The point of these pants eludes me, to be honest. Maybe I’m just old fashioned, but I like my pants to actually cover something…I don’t know about you but I thought that was the reason people wore pants.
These particular shants look like someone bought tights five sizes too big and then thought that it would be a good idea to add cargo pockets. Hmmmm.
These also hark back memories of those bags in the depths of the Fashion Police jail that are completely clear and reveal all your belongings. Whatever you decide to carry with you in the pockets of these bewildering pants is on display for all to see. Sign me up!

I’ve never understood the point of a dedicated swimsuit cover-up. Personally, I just repurpose a summer dress for that use. I will admit that I own one bona fide swimsuit cover-up, a nice Ralph Lauren one at that, but only because I got it at a thrift store for $2.
But yes, the shants are awful, whatever the purpose.

It’s unbelievable how much those pants are ruining the model’s legs. If she can’t pull it off then none of us can
