Red Carpet Watch: Jaime King and Amy Adams at the 12th Annual Hollywood Film Festival Awards

Spl58056_0381

Unusually for the red carpet both Jaime King and Amy Adams decided to keep it sweet and summery at this week's 12th Annual Hollywood Film Festival Awards, opting for short, print dresses which look more suitable for summer than winter to us, although given that they were in California at the time, we guess the season's not so relevant.

Are these looks a refreshing change from the usual, floor-length, glitzy gowns, though, do you think? We like both dresses, although we don't think this is Amy's best look ever, but what do you think? Do you prefer this ever-so-slightly less formal look on the red carpet?

Fashion Police Gold Star for... Rachel Weisz in RM by Roland Mouret at the London premiere of The Brothers Bloom

Spl57976_0022

We love Rachel Weisz, and we tend to love just about everything Roland Mouret ever does, so it'll come as no surprise to hear that we also loved Rachel Weisz in this dramatic RM by Roland Mouret dress, which she wore to the London premiere of The Brothers Bloom this week.

It's not a dress everyone could pull off, but we're into big, dramatic collars right now, and we're also keen on the black and white colour mix. Fabulous. Two more after the jump...

Best Dressed at the 30th Anniversary Carousel of Hope: Nicole Ritchie, Melanie Brown, Maria Menounos or Garcelle Beauvais?

Spl57428_0041_2

One of the most glamourous celbrity events of the weekend was the 30th Carousel of Hope Ball, at the Hilton in Beverly Hills. Who was the best dressed, though? Under the jump, you'll see full sized images of Nicole Ritchie, Melanie Brown, Maria Menounos and Garcelle Beauvais - it's totally up to you to decide which of them deserves to win the title!

Best Dressed at the 2008 Emmys Part 3 - Heidi Klum, Debra Messing, America Ferrera or Christina Applegate?

Emmys_2008red_carpet_2  (Click image for full size)

Finally, here are some of the girls in blacks, greys and blues on the 2008 Emmy red carpet, namely Heidi Klum in Armani, Debra Messing in Monique Lhuillier, America Ferrera in Werle and Christina Applegate in Emmy's favourite, Reem Acra. But who was your favourite?

Needless to say, there were lots more fabulous outfits on show at this event, but we just don't have time to cover them all here, so if your overall favourite was someone we've missed, feel free to tell us in the comments!

Best Dressed at the 2008 Emmys Part 2 - Christina Hendricks, Teri Hatcher, Nicolette Sheridan or Brooke Shields?

We've looked at the stars in silver and gold, now here are some of the ones who went for jewel brights instead at this year's Emmy awards. From L-R: Christina Hendricks in Tadashi, Teri Hatcher in Monique Lhuillier, Nicolette Sheridan in Angel Sanchez and Brooke Shields in Badgley Mischka. But who was the best dressed, do you think, and, dare we say it, who was the worst?

Best Dressed at the 2008 Emmys Part 1: Olivia Wilde, Evangeline Lilly, Jennifer Morrison or Marcia Cross?

Emmy_fashion_2008_1_2
(Click image to view full size)

The 2008 Emmys red carpet has given The Fashion Police a huge amount of dresses to inspect, so we thought we'd call on the help of our loyal cadets to work out which celebrities deserve a Fashion Police badge, and which need to be marched to the cells. We'll be doing this over a few posts, so stay tuned and get ready to tell us who you thought was best dressed at the 2008 Emmys starting off with the stars who shimmered in silver and gold...

From L-R: Olivia Wilde in Reem Acra, Evangeline Lilly in Elie Saab, Jennifer Morrison in Marchesa or Marcia Cross, also in Elie Saab. Who gets your vote?

Best Dressed of the Day: Maggie Gyllenhaal, Victoria Beckham, Hayden Panettiere or Kristen Bell

Celebrity_fashion_3

There hasn't been a whole lot going on red-carpet-wise recently: of course, there've been plenty of red carpet events, but no clothes on them that have particularly grabbed our attention, so this edition of "Best Dressed" consists of a selection of celebrity outfits selected mostly at random, and which we're keen to hear your thoughts on.

All of these, with the exception of the Maggie Gyllenhaal shot, which is from the Dark Knight premiere, are from the ESPY Awards, so we have Maggie, Victoria Beckham, Hayden Panettiere and Kristen Bell, all hoping to be named Best Dressed of the Day. Who's it going to be though? Well, that, dear readers, is up to you!

Best Dressed of the Day: Jada Pinkett Smith, Liv Tyler, Eva Mendes or Jennifer Morrison?

Celebrity_fashion_2

It's time to stand in judgement on the stars again, but don't worry, we're not looking to make any arrests here (unless, of course, you think arrests are necessesary), only to give credit where it's due, and decide which of the celebs pictured above deserved the Best Dressed of the Day award...

Today your nominees are:

Jada Pinkett Smith at the premiere of 'Hancock.'

Liv Tyler looking sleek in black at the Dior Haute Couture show in Paris.

Eva Mendes taking a totally different approach and going for bright, clashing colours at the same show.

Or Jennifer Morrison in a simple brown embellished dress at the 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth' premiere?

You'll find a poll tucked under the jump - remember to leave us a comment to let us know who you voted for!

Best Dressed of the Day: Fergie, Alicia Keys, Rihanna or Jennifer Love Hewitt?

Celebrity_fashion

Yes, we know: we're surprised too to see Fergie up for Best Dressed of the Day, but we'll let you into a secret: we think she looks fabulous in this white dress (which, admittedly, could be doing with a bit of an iron), and we don't care who knows it. So there.

Also in white, we have Alicia Keys, seen here at the BET Awards, and your other choices for the Best Dressed of the Day gong are Rihanna, in bright yellow at the same awards and Jennifer Love Hewitt, keeping it sleek and simple in a little black dress.

Who's it gonna be, folks: who was the Best Dressed of the Day?

Lucy Liu in Giambattista Valli at the Kung Fu Panda London premiere

Lucy_liu

Lucy Liu? Two things:

1. Great shoes! Courtney Crawford, right? Nice choice! Loving your work on the feet. And we're concentrating so hard on your feet, Lucy, because...

2. Stand sideways to the camera in this dress, sweetie. Sideways. Because from the side, you're almost getting away with it. From the front, on the other hand? My, but those are some fine, childbearing hips you have there, Lucy. Fine hips, indeed.

Now, the thing is, we know Lucy Liu doesn't have hips this size: in fact, she has the kind of figure we'd pay good money for. So why hide that light under this Giambattista Valli bushel, we wonder? Why? The sad thing is, this dress could've been rather lovely, if it wasn't for the farthingale effect going on with the hips. We know this is a style Balenciaga have been popularising recently too, but we can't say it's a look we love - do you?

Sex and the City New York Premiere: Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis & Kim Cattrall

Sex_and_the_city_new_york

(Click the image to view it full size)

The Sex and the City movie premiere has finally reached New York, and it looks like the girls brought out the big guns for this one - and we're not talkihg about Kim Catrall's boobs, either. We think Sarah Jessica Parker wins the Fashion Police gold badge for this gorgous silver number, and we're also quite keen on Kristin Davis' gold floral trim dress. Not so keen on Cynthia Nixon's "budget bride" look here, or the "handles" on Kim's dress. We're sure those will come in handy for something, but we're not sure we want to speculate on what that might be.

What about you? Do you love or loathe these looks from the Sex and the City foursome?

Best Dressed of the Day: Natalie Portman, Rose McGowan, Madonna or Michelle Williams?

Celebrity_fashion_2

(click the image to view the large version)

Wow. Wowwowwow! Get a load of Natalie Portman! Isn't she fabulous in this dress? Isn't it great to see her ditch the "I work in a bank" look of earlier this month, and concentrate on being gorgeous?

From this you may well conclude that The Fashion Police are supporting Nat's bid to be named Best Dressed of the Day, but the thing is... we really love Rose McGowan's hair. And we're kinda digging her "glam Cinderella" look here, too. And then there's Madonna, in a Stella McCartney dress that won't even be available to us mere mortals for months. Can you believe she's almost  50? Michelle Williams, meanwhile... hmmm, well, it's possibly a little ageing on her, but we love us some vintage-style beaded gowns, so let's throw her into the mix, too.

Time for you to make the decision, Fashion Police Jury. Which of these celebrities is the Best Dressed of the Day?

Best Dressed of the Day: Cate Blanchett, Christina Milian, Liv Tyler or Taylor Momsen?

Celebrity_fashion

One of these glamorously dressed ladies looks like a Fashion Criminal to us. At least one other is deserving of a Fashion Police badge for good behaviour. What we want to know is whether you share our thoughts on these fine celebrities, which is why we're asking once again: who was the best dressed of the day?

Was it Cate Blanchett, in her metallic gown, Christina Milian, who looks like she's already won some kind of medal, a newly single and slightly gothic looking Liv Tyler, or did little Jenny Humphrey, aka Taylor Momsen float The Fashion Police boat? And which is the fashion criminal?

Look under the jump for bigger pictures of the celebrities, and a poll which will help us decide who was the best dressed of the day!

Fashion Police at Cannes: Cate Blanchett, Eva Longoria, Bar Rafaeli, Mischa Barton

Cate_blanchett_2
Cate Blanchett

Even although it's a pretty good match for her skin tone, and therefore looks a little bit like it's growing on her, we love this beautiful, beruffled dress on Cate Blanchett. And if we had any doubt at all that ruffles were the big evening-wear look of the season, well, we don't any more.

Fashion Police at Cannes: Two looks from Natalie Portman

Natalie_portman_cannes_2

The 2008 Cannes Film Festival kicked off this week, which means there'll be opportunities a-plenty to see the stars in all their finery, and probably in their swimsuits too, as they sip champagne on yachts in the Mediterranean, and make The Fashion Police feel insanely jealous.

Kicking off our Cannes coverage, then, on the left we have Natalie Portman all dolled up in purple ruffles (the look of the season, apparently), and on the right, Natalie Portman off to her day job in a bank. We love the purple ruffles and we wouldn't throw the shoes from the second picture (Which are from Natalie's own collection for Te Casan) out of the shoe closet, but the shorts suit gets a firm Fashion Police thumbs down on the grounds that office attire has no place at Cannes - unless, of course, you're an office worker, in which case you're excused.

What do you think of Natalie's two looks?

Sex and the City movie premiere: Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon, Kristin Davis & SJP

Sex_and_the_city_movie_prem

Cynthia Nixon: "Damn! I was hoping that by baring my chest like this, I'd get to be centre of attention for once, but damn if she hasn't gone and stolen the limelight again!"

We love Kim Cattrall's dress and Kristin Davis' shoes, but we have a sneaking suspicion that they're all too scared of SJP's mutant tree hat to care what the hell they're wearing. Pretty dull choice from Kristin, but I guess if you're fresh from starring in your very own Internet sex tape, you probably don't want to be drawing too much attention to yourself. Kristin thinks, "Thank God for the tree hat, thank God for the tree hat..."

Sex and the City movie premiere: Sarah Jessica Parker

Sarah_jessica_parker

It was always pretty much a given that Sarah Jessica Parker would try to pull something a little bit extraordinary out of the bag for the Sex and the City movie premiere in London last night, but here it looks like she actually turned up in character as Carrie. And man, we'd have hated to have been sitting behind her in the theatre...

We love the dress, but aren't huge fans of headgear that makes you walk like a robot, scared to move your head in case it all comes tumbling down on top of you, which is what seems to be going on here. It's a great hat to look at, but possibly not so much fun to wear, we suspect. What do you think, though?

Style on Trial: Christina Ricci at the Met Costume Institute Gala

Christina_ricci

We've thought about this long and hard, and we think that of all the stars at Monday night's Met Costume Institute Gala, Christina Ricci wins the silver star for the best interpretation of the theme in this Wonder Woman-esque dress by Givenchy. Not only is this fabulous for her figure, it also manages to evoke the "superheroes" theme pretty well - which is more than we can say for most. That said, it's a very "love it or loathe it" kind of gown, so what do you think: was Christina the Best Dressed at the Met?

Wardrobe Malfunction at the Met Costume Institute Gala: Natasha Richardson

Natasha_richardson_2

It just goes to show, you don't even have to be wearing a particularly jail-worthy dress to have a wardrobe malfunction - all you have to do is hike it up really high, like Natasha Richardson here, and you'll be showing the world (and Tom Ford) your flesh coloured thong before you know it. Wardrobe Malfunctions can happen to anyone, folks: be ever on your guard...

The MET Costume Institute Gala 2008: Kate Bosworth

Katebosworth

Amid all of the long gowns and coiffed hairdos at last night's Costume Institute Gala, Kate Bosworth stood out like only a woman in bright blue eyeshadow can. We're not quite sure what to make of her short, sequined dress (other than wanting to offer to fix the hem for her), but we know we hate the plastic strapped shoes. We secretly (OK, not so secretly, then) quite like the blue eyeshadow, though...

| | Comments (10)

The MET Costume Institute Gala 2008: Naomi Watts

Naomiwatts2008metcostum

This year's Costume Institute Gala had a "superheroes" theme, although we'd bet you wouldn't necessarily have guessed that from the pictures we've shown you so far. Naomi Watts is the first celebrity we've seen to give a nod towards the superhero theme, with this star=fronted gown, although if Naomi was a superhero, we're not quite sure which superhero she'd be. Marilyn-Monroe-Lookalike-Girl perhaps?

The Met Costume Institute Gala 2008: Katie Holmes & Tom Cruise

Katie_holmes_tom_cruise

And she was doing so well, too...

To be fair to Katie Holmes, this dress of hers wasn't quite so shiny from every angle, but oh, those sequins! That flash! The gold chains and bright blue shoes! It's all looking a helluva lot cheaper than it probably cost, not to mention the fact that the dress looks like it was designed for someone older than Katie/someone who actually lives in the 1980s. What do you think?

| | Comments (9)

MET Costime Institute Gala 2008: Scarlett Johansson

Scarlett_johansson

Looks like Scarlett Johansson has cleaned up her act a little from The Other Boleyn Girl premiere, when she showed up in opaque tights and flats... We think this is the prettiest we've seen her look lately - hair and makeup is gorgeous, and that dress makes her look like ... actually, forget what it makes her look like, all we can see is the boobs. So, we would say it makes her look like a pair of boobs on legs, but that would be misleading as we actually love this on her. And we think her breast probably loved all the attention, too.

MET Costume Institute Gala 2008: Mary-Kate & Ashley Olsen

Olsen_twins

Hey, who's that with Mary-Kate Olsen? Oh. It's Ashley. Ashley Olsen in a kinda ripped up dress, no makeup and second day hair. We're not keen. We reckon the Olsen twins should've stuck to plan A here, which was for both of them to go in Mary-Kate's gold dress. Let's face it, they'd both have fitted...

MET Costume Institute Gala 2008: David & Victoria Beckham

David_and_victoria_beckham_3

We reckon the MET Costume Institute Gala is way better than the Oscars, purely in terms of fashion, so today we're going to be bringing you some pictures of the stars coming out to play at the 2008 event. Your job is simply to tell us what you think of their outfits, kicking off with David Beckham and Joan Collins, whoops, we mean wife Victoria, above. Man, but Joan Collins is going to be pissed when she realises Victoria stole her style, no?

Star Style on Trial: Agyness Deyn on the red carpet

Agyness_deyn

It's the most stylish woman in the world again, folks. We know this to be true because the fashion press keep telling us it is. If the general air of breathless excitement that greets everything Agyness Deyn ever does is anything to go by, of course, it's just not possible that you could feel anything other than sheer awe at the sight of this outfit, which Aggie wore to a screening of My Blueberry Nights this week. The thing is, though: we can't help feeling that if anyone else wore something like this (Or, indeed, any of Agyness's outfits), we'd have them thrown in the Fashion Police slammer before you could say "What IS that thing under her blouse, anyway?" But hey, it's Agyness, and it seems to be almost sacrilegious not to be a fervent admirer of her style at the moment, so we're putting her on trial:

What do you think of Agyness Deyn's outfit? Fashion Crime or Absolutely Fine?

Red Carpet Fashion: Agyness Deyn & Emma Watson at the Empire Film Awards

Empireawards

Two very different styles on show on the, er, printed carpet at last night's Empire Film Awards, with Agyness Deyn showing up in an ankle-length stripey dress with hat, while Emma Watson is the living embodiment of the phrase "pretty in pink.

We don't mean this to sound creepy, but we think Emma Watson is absolutely adorable. Seriously, you could just pick her up and put her in your pocket, no? Not so sure about the black shoes with this dress, though: they kind of draw the eye down to her feet all the time, so maybe a lighter colour would have worked better.

As for Agyness, well, it's all so very 80s-tastic, isn't it? It's a typically striking look, but it's like she just time-traveled in from 1983. Will she ever get bored with this style, we wonder?

Baby Bumps at the Oscars: Cate Blanchett, Jessica Alba, Nicole Kidman

Oscrafashion

Rarely has there been so many baby bumps on the Oscars red carpet at any one time - are they putting something in the water in Hollywood, we wonder? All three of the pregnant stars above tried to play up their upper bodies, with fellow Aussies Cate Blanchett (wearing Dries Van Noten) and Nicole Kidman (in L'Wren Scott) both went for huge necklaces (with Nicole's a little too huge, perhaps?), while Jessica Alba (in Marchesa) went for a rather strange flower device, which she may or may not have stolen from Anne Hathaway, who chose the same designer.

Fashion Police at the 2008 Oscars: Ellen Page, Hilary Swank, Jennifer Garner

Oscarfashion_2

We've looked at the ladies in red, so it's time now to take a look at some ladies in black, namely Ellen Page, Hilary Swank and Jennifer Garner.

Ellen Page kept things characteristically simple in this plain black vintage gown, which is just a little too plain, we think, although we like the way she's jazzed it up with the long necklace. Red carpet glamour doesn't seem to be Ellen's thing, which is fair enough, and she still manages to look cute in this rather drab dress.

Hilary Swank, meanwhile, had a bit of a flirtation with the phenomenon that is the "shant" dress, with this Versace gown which has a whole lot of lace built-in. We're not keen, but then we never are when it comes to anything that can have the word "shant" applied to it...

Finally, Jennifer Garner was... well, she's just smokin', isn't she, in Oscar de la Renta? Maybe it's because we're so used to seeing Jennifer dressed down, in jeans and sweatshirts, that we sometimes forget just how good she can scrub up when she tries.

Fashion Police at the 2008 Oscars: Cameron Diaz

Camerondiaz

Cameron Diaz can usually be relied on to make some interesting red carpet choices, but this is one we're not so keen on. The dress is Dior, but while we love the shape, the creases in the fabric make it look a little cheap, and the pale colour looks washed out, even with Cam's tan. Close, but no Fashion Police badge for you, Cammy...

| | Comments (1)

Fashion Police at the 2008 Oscars: Amy Adams

Amyadams

The bodice of this Proenza Schouler dress is obviously the stand out feature: it looks a little like some kind of strange armour, but we like it all the same. We also love the colour, which is perfect with Amy Adams' pale skin and red hair, and the gold evening bag finishes things off nicely. Fashion Police badge of merit, please!

| | Comments (2)

Fashion Police at the 2008 Oscars: Renee Zellweger

Reneezewelleger

Renee Zellweger decided to play it relatively safe on Oscars night, wearing a silver dress by her favourite designer, Caroline Herrera. Not the most daring Oscar choice ever, but credit where it's due  - this is a beautiful gown, and it's earned Renee her very first Fashion Police badge of honour. Does she deserve it, do you think?

Fashion Police at The 2008 Oscars: Heidi Klum

Heidiklumoscars_2

We've only just started going through The Fashion Police files from last night's Oscars, but already we're thinking there's a strong case for making Heidi Klum the recipient of the "best dressed" award for this stunning Galliano creation. We love the bold colour and the dramatic collar detail - perfect red pinkish carpet attire!

Celebrity Oops Moments: Abigail Clancy at the Brit Awards

Celebrityoops

"Who the hell is Abigail Clancy?" we asked ourselves when we first saw this photo. And then, "Who the hell cares?" we thought, "For forever more, Abi Clancy will be known to The Fashion Police as "That chick who turned up at The Brits in a completely see through dress and leopard print thong." Actually, it turns out she's some kind of lingerie model, which further begs the question: why didn't she wear a matching bra with her thong?

Did Abigail know her dress was see-through when she stepped out of the house to go to the Brits? We'll never know. But if she didn't, we thank the Gods of Fashion that at least she was actually wearing underwear...

Fashion Police at The Brits: Girls Aloud, minus Nadine

Girlsaloud

Here's Girls Aloud (minus Nadine Coyle, who claimed to have "lost her passport") on the red carpet at last night's Brit Awards. It's like a bomb went off in a fake tan factory, isn't it? Luckily Nicola must have missed the bomb - she was presumably too busy applying blusher at the time - but the rest of the girls got caught in the crossfire.

Fake tan and Sarah's dress aside, however, The Fashion Police are secret Girls Aloud fans (look, their music is good to work out to, OK?) and we're pleased to see Cheryl Cole sticking a figurative two fingers up at errant husband Ashley by going about her business and looking glam. You go, girl! Or something.

We also note that Kimberly appears to be wearing the Black Halo Cami dress we featured as Dress of the Day earlier this month. Should we be worried to be sharing our style with one of the Girls Aloud, do you think?

Fashion Police at the Brit Awards: Denise Van Outen, Beth Ditto

Britawards_2

More from the Brit Awards, where Denise Van Outen decided to turn up dressed in tinfoil, working a real "footballer's wife" look. We love the YSL Tribute platforms but can't help but feel that the fake tan and gold dress make her look like she's about to be basted.

Beth Ditto, meanwhile, gives off a solid, "anyone who doesn't like my outfit can kiss my tutu-clad ass" vibe, so far be it for us to suggest that she looks anything other than... very Beth Ditto.

Your thoughts on these outfits?

Fashion Police at the Brit Awards: Fearne Cotton

Fearnecotton

For those of you unfamiliar with British TV, Fearne Cotton is a presenter who is often credited by the UK press as being something of a "fashion icon" for her "fun" and often "quirky" sense of style. She s about to start hosting a fashion show for MTV, in the illustrious company of Girls Aloud's Sarah Harding, and she was also the face of New Look's organic range for a while.

None of which, of course, explains why she rocked up to the Brit Awards in this bright red silk jumpsuit, paired with black ankle boots.

It's hard for us to take issue with a fashionista like Fearne, though, and this outfit is very "her" (not to mention the fact that we think she's getting away with it) so we ask you, the jury: what do you think of Fearne's outfit?

P.S. Get Fearne's jumpsuit at ASOS.com...

Fashion Police at the Brit Awards: Kylie Minogue, Leona Lewis, Rihanna

Britawards

Time for us to retrospectively police the red carpet at last night's Brit Awards, and so far there's nothing to unduly concern us. True, Kylie Minogue is looking very "Happy Birthday, Mr President" is a dress which looks like the bodice is trying to escape from her chest, but Leona Lewis was as sweet as ever in this strapless prom dress, while Rihanna shone in silver, as only Rihanna can.

More Brit fashion coming along soon - and it's not all as palatable as this stuff, we warn you...

Star Style Wars: Scarlett Johansson V. Natalie Portman, Round 3

Scarlettnatalie

The publicity machine for The Other Boleyn Girl has now reached London, giving Scarlett Johansson and Natalie Portman yet another opportunity to prove who is the most stylish of the Boleyn girls - an important question, we're sure you'll agree.

ScarJo and Nat were neck and neck after rounds one and two of this game: will round three see a winner start to emerge, we wonder? For the London premiere, we think Scarlett got it wrong again, choosing a silver dress that isn't hideous, but which isn't particularly flattering on her either. We can only assume this is the reason Natalie, in her much nicer address, is assuming this saintly, Virgin-Mary-esque pose, as she looks down her nose and wonders why the hell Scarlett can't just straighten up already. You know, like her.

Feel like knocking Saint Nat off that pedestal she seems to be on, or do you think she has good reason to be on it? Who's the winner of this round of Star Style Wars: The Boleyn edition?

Start Style on Trial: Diane Kruger dresses as a penguin at The Other Bolyen Girl premiere

Dianekruger

Oh, waitress? Waitress, could you hurry along that bottle of champagne, please? The Fashion Police are thirsty. Actually... wait - don't we know you from somewhere? It's not...? It is! It's little Diane Kruger, down on her luck and forced to wait tables at the Berlin premiere of The Other Boleyn Girl.

OK, so we exaggerate. This is not so much a waitress costume as it's... Well, let's just say that the top half could walk right into a turn of the century drama and feel right at home, while the bottom half would probably prefer to be doing the can-can on top of some bar. Which is kind of a weird combination, don't you think?

What do you think? Should we be arresting Diane for crimes of fashion, or will we just let this one fly?

Fashion Police at The Grammys: Cher

Cher

Cher's been arrested on so many crimes of fashion in her time that if we were a real police force, she'd probably doing life right now. As it is, she was free to turn up at The Grammys this weekend wearing a dress she appears to have fashioned out of old binliners.  We were almost heartened to see this picture, though. I mean, it's not a good awards ceremony without at least one, true, Fashion Disaster, and there ain't no Fashion Disaster like a Cher Fashion Disaster, is there?

(Except maybe a Jodie Marsh Fashion Disaster, obviously).

Grammys Fashion Faceoff: Beyonce and Fergie in yellow

Grammysfashion

They both wore yellow. They both wore it pretty well. The question on everyone's lips, though (OK, on our lips, then) is: who wore it best?

While Beyonce sexed it up to The Grammys after party in the way that only Beyonce can, while Fergie played it uncharacteristically cool in this simple but striking gown. Tell us, though: who do you think wins this Grammy  edition of Star Style Wars?

Start Style On Trial: Marion Cotillard wins Best Actress BAFTA - but does she win Best Dressed?

Marioncotillard

French actress Marion Cotillard won the Best Actress BAFTA for her portrayal of Edith Piaf in La Vie En Rose last night. What we want to know, though, is how you rate her dress? We reckon this sparkly number could have made a nice change from the traditional long, red carpet gowns, but we're not so sure about the acres of white material flowing from Marion's armpits. What are those, anyway, wings? Is she planning on flying herself home after the ceremony?

What do you reckon: would you give her the Best Dressed award to go with Best Actress, or is this just a fashion disaster?

Fashion Police at the BAFTAs: Julie Christie

Now, we appreciate that it's not easy for the more mature woman to dress for the red carpet. You're constantly having to dodge the "mutton dressed as lamb" comments, and everyone keeps telling you how fabulous Helen Mirren looks all the time. So no, it's not easy.

When we look at this picture of Julie Christie, though, we're thinking it shouldn't be quite this hard, should it? From the waist up, she looks like a newsreader. From the waist down, on the other hand... well, actually, we have no idea what she looks like. Who wears slightly tapered ankle-print pants that are just slightly too short on the red carpet, anyway? WHO?

On the positive side, she's rocking those YSL Tribute platforms, and we like that. But while it's always good to stick two fingers up at the traditional "long gown/sparkly sandals" combo for these types of affairs, we don't think these pants would necessarily be a good look anywhere, do you?
