Plastic Fantastic? Michael Kors cutaway dresses

We’ve seen more than our fair share of “cutaway” dresses this year, but we think this may be the first time we’ve seen ones where the cut-out sections are filled in with clear plastic: or what looks like it, anyway:

This will obviously make navel-gazing easier than ever before, but we tend to prefer our navels NOT to be a focal point of our evening wear. It’s just a personal thing.

What do you think of these?

Those dresses create a very interesting effect. To wear? No, thanks.
Maybe if they’d give up the see-through section in the navel area.
On the other hand I have navel piercing.. Errm.. No.

Actually, I think you’re right – they would probably be pretty without the navel see-through part.

I would like them (maybe…), if
    – the clear section wouldn’t force you to go commando under the dress or wear those horrible c-strings.
    – the dresses had a shape instead of being unflattering sacks with plastic inserts.

    No, thanks.

Ok, I had never heard of a c-string, but I googled it after I read your post, Moni. Wow… The things we endure for the sake of fashion…

As Orange Kors would say, it’s disco hooker barbie at the saran wrap factory.

Look but do not touch, hence the plastic. But why navel – you don’t wanna go any lower, really.

I like the concept.. But the style of the location of the cutouts is a bit freaky!!! May be only the cutout near the hemline would be more minimalistic & aesthetic!!!

Oooh I don’t know about this. It looks kind of like she’s been in one of those magic boxes and the magician has taken a saw to her! It’s a weird effect- Great for the catwalk, but couldn’t imagine strutting down the road in one!

To my brother: Adam, have you been playing with scissors again?
Adam: No…(holds them behind his back)
    Me: (bursts out laughing)
