Fashion Police at the 2012 Oscars: Octavia Spencer in Tadashi Shoji

Octava Spencer at the 2012 Oscars

Best Supporting Actress nominee Octavia Spencer kept it classic on the red carpet last night in a silver/white Tadashi Shoji gown, with matching clutch and earrings. We particularly liked her hair here, with its combination of bun n’ bouffant: simple but sleek.

I think she looks great! I’ve noticed it can be hard to find flattering dresses for either larger frames or very thin frames, and here she’s found something that looks extremely flattering.

Loved this! My Oscars team does not like the shirred look on larger women (which we all are) but I thought this was a great example of how it works when it is fitted correctly.

Octavia Spencer and Jennifer Lopez had very similarly designed dresses–similar pulling in at the waiste and similar colors. (B stole my look?) Both were beautiful, but I liked Octavia Spencers better. Jennifer’s dress showed too much and it made her hips look bigger than her shoulders. Octavia’s was beautiful and classy!

Everything about this dress is wonderful, especially on her.
When fuller women are savvy about what shapes they choose, there’s no competing with them!
