My Humps: Calvin Klein’s sleeveless wool-blend dress

Oh dear. Well, this is awkward, isn’t it? And we know it may not be the politically correct thing to say, but this Calvin Klein dress… it’s kinda deformed, no?  Imagine wearing it to a party, for instance: anyone you stopped to chat to would be standing there thinking, “Must. Not. Look. At. The. Hump. Must. Not. Look. At. The. Swelling.” Secretly, though, they wouldn’t be able to take their eyes off it, thinking, “What IS it? IS it a colostomy bag? Is she pregnant with an alien? WHAT?” And the kicker is, you’d have paid £1,860 /$2846 to make people think you were in some kind of delicate-yet-mysterious condition, too!

Or, of course, maybe that’s just us? Maybe everyone else would look at this dress and simply see a “fashion forward silhouette”, as Net-a-Porter put it, and nothing to speculate about at all? Would they? Would YOU? In other words: what do you think of this dress?

If this really is fashion forward then I need a one way ticket to the past.

    Worst. Dress. EVER!
    why would ANYBODY wear that?
    except for lady gaga maybe.
It looks like you pulled it out of the trash and there was some nasty stuff on it and thats how you got infected and a huge lump started growing on your hip.

I seem to remember an episode of the X Files that featured a man shaped like this dress. (He had an evil twin who crawled out of the lump and committed murders at night.)

A friend of mine posted a link to that exact same dress for us to mock. You have to wonder what the designers were thinking when they came up with it. I’m sure there was a concept, but it certainly didn’t come through.

Just yesterday one of my friends pointed out that the photos on Net-A-Porter had changed. I wonder if they actually changed the dress, or just smushed the lump flat before taking the new photos. There does seem to be a suspicious crumple of extra fabric in the middle of the puffy bit now…
