Fashion Police at the MET Costume Institute Gala: Florence Welch, Sarah Burton and Cate Blanchett

Florence Welch, Sarah Burton, Cate Blanchett

This was, sadly, the only photo we have of Florence Welch’s “lampshade” dress from last night’s Costume Institute Gala.

We think it’s enough, though.

With Florence are Alexander McQueen designer, Sarah Burton, and Cate Blanchett. What do you think of their outfits?

    Here’s a “better” picture of Florence’s dress:

That article also includes a picture from the back which shows the total silliness of this monstrosity. (These aren’t sleeves, it’s a CAPE!!! Pass me the eyeball bleach and the smelling salt!)
Really, how can anybody look in the mirror wearing this and think “Wow, what a beautiful dress that truly flatters my figure!” ??!!
But then again I don’t understand Florence Welch in general. Okay, she’s true to her “style”, I give her that. But the thought of an entire wardrobe filled with frilly voluminous gowns in different shades of dusty fleshtones makes me shudder…

Nobody else noticed that Cate’s dress looks like a great big Ugg? Wearing Uggs with your dress is not bad enough, now the dress has to look like a furry boot? Ugg!
