Marc Jacobs in “Boots pretending to be shoes” shocker

Oh, Marc. Haven’t we had to caution you before about stuff like this? And yet, here you are, merrily attaching shoes to socks as if there’s nothing in the world we’d all rather wear than wear IMPOSTORS on our feet. Sigh

What confuses us most about these, though, is the “socks”. Who wears shoes with black socks that cut-off at that unflattering mid-calf height? Is it you? If so, would you wear these “shoes”? If you would, they’re £130 and you can buy them at Yoox.com.  And hey, at least you’ll never get that “one sock lost in the washing machine” scenario with them. Not when the sock in question comes with a whopping great shoe attached…

I’m ashamed to say I can see the point to these:
Suppose you like to wear ballet pumps with slouchy socks (I’m not one of them but I’m sure there are those who do), but hate the way the shoes keep slipping off your heel, having been slightly stretched by the socks and lacking the friction coefficient of your skin to stay on. The solution: attach the socks to the shoes.

Honestly if the “socks” came up to the thigh I could pretend to see the functionality in these. A cold winter day where you have no other choise than to wear a skirt (No, I don’t know why) you have your legs covered.

My eyes are failing me. When I leaned in to the screen and saw exactly what the “socks” looked like I decided it’s better to not try and explain them. No excuse.

I like the shoe part. D’you suppose the ugly sock could be cut off inconspicuously? But then, I could just go out and buy a pair of patent ballet flats and not worry about it….
