Marc Jacobs gives up mice, turns to foxes instead

Marcjacobsfoxears

Our apologies for bringing you two Marc Jacobs posts (almost) in a row today, but when we spotted these fox ear flats at Browns, we knew we couldn’t rest until we’d found out what you thought of them. Well, OK, not really…

The Marc Jacobs mouse shoes, of course, are well known, and pretty popular, so we suppose it was only a matter of time before Marc decided to try his hand at immortalising other animals in footwear. These are patent leather with matt black fox ears sticking up at the front, and they’re £300 at Browns. What do you think of them, Fashion Force?

The ridiculous part is that it’s a pair of otherwise very sensible shoes, only with ears attached to them… If they were, say, shocking pink, I would understand

I actually really like these. The mouse ones I don’t understand unless you’re 6 and it’s your birthday party, but as a gal always on the lookout for cute flats to wear with trousers, I say yes to the fox ears.

I think the ear additions are silly and find them kind of “Halloweenish”. Otherwise the shoes would’ve been okay.

Marc Jacobs is my all-time favorite designer and i stand by every one of his fashion designs..but i have to draw the line at his animal flats.I just don’t really get it. It wouldn’t go with my outfits even if the color matched. Like where would it fit in? With my boho outfits? No. With my sophisticated outfits? Probably not. With my nautical outfits? Nope. The only solution i have found so far is for a fun little 5 yr. old. Sorry, Marc! I still love you!

A tiny bit of foreshadowing here? Mouse and fox: Plenty of animals left after those two!!

Well the thing is, when I first look at the shoes, I don’t think “fox ears” I just think it’s a design element. Not a particularly thrilling element, but still…They’re cute enough and they’re more restrained than nearly anything Marc Jacobs comes out with. The fact that they vaguely resemble fox ears is secondary, really.
