Style on Trial: Marc Jacobs colourblock chiffon dress

Marcjacobsdress

I almost made this dress our Dress of the Day, purely on the basis that hey, at least it’s not black, and man, am I sick of seeing black dresses everywhere right now. (Sorry, little black dress: we still love you, really). There comes a point, you see, when one black dress starts to look very much like another, and when every girl in the entire room is wearing one, well, this dress could start to seem like a good idea.

Or could it? Because right after I decided I was going to make it dress of the day, I thought, "Wait a minute. Maybe people don’t want to walk around looking like they just ripped down a circus tent and slung it on, in the manner of Scarlett O’Hara in her old green velvet curtains. Do they? Well, I guess there’s only one way to find out."

So I decided to put it On Trial, instead. Marc Jacobs’ colourblock chiffon dress stands before you in the dock, folks. Will you convict it of crimes against fashion, or will you acquit it, making it a free dress? (Well, it’s not FREE exactly – it’s £1295, but you know what I mean.)

I would say honestly if it was a different color I would love it hands down
but … the neon yellow just seems wrong to me
don’t get me wrong I love yellow

Wow I just read the Victoria Beckham neon yellow post
OK so I was wrong to call the yellow in this dress neon, because it certainly isn’t as bad the other dress
    it just seems too bright
maybe I am just not ready to wear a dress that isn’t black

Well, it looks great for a parade costume, or perhaps a jazz dance recital…
