Manolo Blahnik: “Platforms are My Nemesis”

Manolo Blahnik It seems Manolo Blahnik is after our jobs. He’s been doing a bit of fashion-policing of his own, and has come down heavily on what he sees as crimes of fashion – namely platform soles, wedges and "prostitute heels".

"All those prostitute heels and wedges and platforms are just horrible. They have literally been my nemesis for the last two or three years," said Manolo dramatically, before hurriedly adding, "There is nothing wrong with prostitute heels – I used to do them myself – but they are just so boring now." Miaow!

In reaction to all of these shoe crimes, Manolo says his spring/summer ’07 collection is "Young, kicky, modern" and with "a subtle bondage theme". Well, quite. These non-bondage red numbers are from the current collection and are £575 from Neiman Marcus.
