Celebrity Style on Trial: Maggie Gyllenhaal’s black jumpsuit at The Dark Knight London premiere

Maggie_gyllenhaal

Generally speaking, The Fashion Police tend to think Maggie Gyllenhaal manages to look good in most things. We think she looks great here, with her 40s-style hairdo and great big smile, so while the Stella McCartney jumpsuit she’s wearing seems a little on the shapeless side for our liking, we think she can get away with it.

But what do you think, readers? Do you love Maggie’s look here, or do you think she’d have looked even better if she’d chosen something a little more form-fitting?

She’s not the type who needs to wear form-fitting clothes, and this is nice, but I still think it’s missing something. I have no idea what.

    Gokarm: a belt.
I’ve never liked Maggie Gyllenhaal that much, but at least she was better than Katie Holmes.

If ONLY this were a gown rather than a wide-legged jumpsuit. So close!

I must say I quite like it. Not something I would wear but she can pull it off. It’s a bit shapeless, yes, but close-fitting, this thing would be a disaster. And with the slinky fabric it might actually look quite sexy when she’s moving.

I share the opinion that it could use some definition around the waist. I think a belt would have looked nice – though personally, with a more defined waist and as a gown, rather than a jump suit, i think it would have really made her look like a knockout.

Yup, a belt would have been nice, but still the shiny fabric manages to make her body look weird, especially around the bust, knee and belly section. Bad look!

I think she can pull it off because of her height, but surely anything else probably would’ve looked better.

I usually dislike Maggie’s style, and this time it’s no different. First of all, it’s a jumpsuit! Second, it’s completely shapeless and makes her look like she has no waist. And, finally, it’s rather low cut and it makes her crotch and breasts look disturbingly close to each other

Ugg. Really – I know she tries to be different but this is hideous.

Althou it could have looked better with a belt I still think she pulled it off. LOVE HER!!

A jumpsuit on the red carpet!? Wow, that’s a first! But I think it’s not as bad as one would expect for the silhouette and cuts make it look more like a dress and she chose to stick to classic black making it a far safer bet than it would have been otherwise.

Her hair and make-up is nice but the jumpsuit is firstly.. too long, secondly..too shapeless and thirdly…. blah for my liking.

She looks classic and different. When every girl on the red carpet is trying to show off everything she’s a breath of fresh air wearing something like this.

Have you seen the back view of this? It’s backless to below her waist. I don’t like the outfit or her hair.

It does need a belt or something to give it a little definition, but I definitely like it.
