Fashion Police at the 2009 Golden Globes: Maggie Gyllenhaal

Maggiegyllenhaalgoldengl

We’ve confessed in the past to not really “getting” the whole ” Maggie Gyllenhaal as fashion icon” thing, and her appearance at the Golden Globes in this animal-print Lanvin dress hasn’t really left us any further forward, to be honest. We don’t love it, don’t hate it, but we have a feeling that lots of you will feel one of those emotions about this one, so we put it to you: is it a fashion crime or is it simply divine? (Or is it somewhere in between?)

It’s just “blah”. I would overlook her in a crowd.

Many times she looks uncomfortable in what she’s wearing – if she would just “own” it, I think some of those looks would be fabulous. This one seems to swallow her. Without the poufy shoulder, though, it works.

I think i’d like the waist a bit higher for her, but other than that, I kind of like it. I’m not SURE the Golden Globes was the right venue for this daring dress though.

The dress is swallowing her. It’s not heinous, but it’s not good.

Maggie has one of those 1930s art deco faces, I think that’s the thing about her – it doesn’t really matter what she wears she still looks classic and fabulous.

The dress is horrible, and her slouchy posture doesn’t exactly help either… I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Maggie’s dress sense is just a tad better than Chloe Sevigny’s. I think people like her, and are thus ready to forgive her fashion atrocities… I can just imagine the comments this dress would get if anyone else wore it!

frankly, leopard print aside, the dress brings out the blue in her eyes, which was what i focused in on first rather than the dress, i say it was a rocking outfit 🙂
Posture should be improved upon though yes?

The dress would probably look classic and statuesque if it were in a single colour.. But the print kind of ruins it in my opinion.

I like it, and if the hemline was higher, I would love it. Make it ballerina length and you’ve got a sale, my good woman.

Honestly, it looks like a fungus. Especially on her shoulder, not pretty. I like her make-up though.
