Save or Splurge: Little White Dresses by Raoul and Topshop

The white dress: once the sole province of brides, this season it’s been reinvented as a summer wardrobe staple, and while the little white dress will probably never look “casual” exactly, it can look simple, stylish and understated.

We think both of the dresses above check all of those boxes: they’re not exactly the same (and Topshop’s offering is best described as “ivory” rather than white), but they both have high necklines, fitted waists and flared skirts, so they both offer their own takes on the same trend.

Which do you prefer, though? The ‘Save’ version is by Topshop, and is $65, while the ‘Splurge’ dress is by Raoul, and is $230.

Which would you choose, if either?

The Topshop one is much prettier! Although I’d be scared to wear either for a long period of time in case I got it dirty.

I agree, I like the topshop one better. The neckline is much nicer and I like the larger pleats. A win for those on tight budgets!

There’s also a lovely white dress similar to the Topshop one in Tesco of all places, loves thick jersey material, feels a lot more than the £20 or so price tag!

The cheaper one is beautiful. Simpler, a bit shorter, and the neckline and pleats are lovely.

I would splurge and get the Raoul dress. Raoul’s clothes are so well made and the extra detail of the pleating and belt make this dress a definite winner!

Raoul has such a classic look and is so New England summer chic! I totally agree with Jennifer TopShop looks soo cheap! The Raoul dress will never go out of style and break down like the TopShop one.

The neckline on the Raoul dress looks like it would be really unflattering on most people. I’d totally go for the Topshop dress.

Most definitely the splurge option. It looks much higher quality, I like the material & color better, and I like the looks of that belt. Plus, the pleats on the chest would look better on me than the plain chest of the Topshop one.

I much prefer the Topshop version. My mind is swimming with all of the accessorizing options already. You couldn’t do as much with the Raoul version.

Oh I much prefer the “save” version of this one. (Though I’d look horrible in either.)

The costly dress looks so much uglier and plainer.

I would save, I prefer the style of the dress and then you can choose your own belt 😉
