Remember when you were a teenager and you REALLY wanted to wear mini skirts to school, but your mum – or the school – wouldn’t let you? So you’d leave for school in the morning with your hem at the parentally-pre-determined length, but then, as soon as you were out of sight, you’d stop and roll it up at the waistband, so that by the time you arrived at school, you’d look like you were taking part in a game of “dress or top“?

Or was that just us and Kate Beckinsale?

What Kate’s done in the image above, you see, is basically a version of that “schoolgirl roll”. Here’s what the dress looked like on the runway, as a comparison:

Which look do you prefer, though? The runway version or The Kate? Or should both of them be arrested for committing crimes of fashion?

Hysterical! I remember tiny workshorts that received so many rolls that the corners started to lift up as the middle was caught on my rump!

Don’t care for either, but the runway version is better. All Kate’s done is given herself a tummy pooch. It really doesn’t show off the dress or herself very well.

I also don’t really like either, but I actually think Kate’s version is a teeny bit more interesting. Too short, but at least it doesn’t look like a lace sack.

They’re both awful! I really dislike anything that has a waist lower then one’s actual waist….

It makes her look like she has a muffin top.

I like both of them, but I have to say Kate’s version is more… i don’t know I just like it better than the runway version. It makes the model look shapeless. 🙂

The runway version gets my vote – no competition. The way it’s being worn in “RL” makes it look more like some sort of beach cover-up for children.
