Style on Trial: Jil Sander’s platform peep toe boots

Jil_sander_bootsAh, our old nemesis, the peep toe boot! Hybrid shoes and Crocs aside (obviously), they’re the footwear style we have the least love for, but of course, that’s just us. Jil Sander has tried to give us another reason to buy these ones by adding the strange “sole fin” you see in the pictures above. It has a slightly lethal look to it, especially when viewed from behind, that makes us think of shark fins and vampire teeth and other sharp, pointy things. Well, it is almost Halloween…

What say you to these, readers? Should we covict or acquit them on the charge of Crimes Against Fashion? (If you choose acquit, these are £505 from Browns).

it looks like they couldn’t decide how to make the heel and so they made something between..It seems like they forgot to cut away the rest of the plastic… don’t know…
    don’t like them at all.

Hideous! Not to mention painful looking! I bet that heel is horrible to walk in.

I really don’t like them, I think the ‘fin’ makes the silhouette very clunky.

This just goes to show that even though something hasn’t been done before, perhaps it’s for the best that it hasn’t. Adding a shark fin to a shoe sole COULD be called innovative, or just plain odd and tacky.

I abhor the whole concept of a peep-toe boot and these have just way too much going on.

no no no. If peep toes must be worn, it should be in summer sandals, not winter boots.
