Coat Corner: Jil Sander tweed jacket

Jil_sander_jacket

Given that we so recently slapped Martin Margiela on the wrist for creating outerwear with a collar so huge it would make driving in it dangerous, you’re probably wondering what we’re doing, awarding Jil Sander a place in the Coat Corner for doing almost the same thing. We’re wondering that too, to be honest, although, to be fair, we never said we weren’t fickle, and that’s because … we are. We also have a weakness for the huge, stand-up collar, and while Margiela took it too far (“No! Not Martin Margiela!” we hear you cry. Because he never takes things too far, does he?) we find the cut of this jacket intriguing, and would kinda like to get our sweaty little hands on it to see what it’s like in real life. Of course, as long as the price tag continues to read “¬£1355” that’s just not going to happen, but if you’re considerably richer than us and think this looks like just your thing, you can get it at Browns.

What do you think of it, though?

I like the general look of it, but it doesn’t look that impressive on the mannequin.

I would definitely wear it. I love the shape, but I also love the marbled charcoal grey.

don’t like it… looks like the designer had to much cloth and thought: ahh no problem I attach a bit of it at the shoulders and voil√†!!
I can’t imagine that it looks flattering on any person…
