Real Life Looks of the Week | The classic trench coat

We didn’t intend this edition of Real Life Looks of the Week to have a theme, as such, but these three looks jumped out at us, and they all just so happen to feature the classic trench coat in all it’s glory, so a theme was born!

The classic trench coat is a spring wardrobe staple for many of us, and with good reason: it adds instant chic to just about any outfit, and although these days trench coats come in a huge range of colours and styles, this is one occasion when we’re going to claim beige is best: if you don’t believe us just take a look at our three favourite looks of the week, in no particular order…

Trench on a Rainy Day by The Midnite Blues

Real Life Look # 1 | Classic trench coat with an all-white ensemble

We’re bug fans of head-to-toe white, which brings tons of drama to even the simplest of outfits. This neutral look is simple, but very stylish, with the animal-print slip-ons providing a little bit of added interest.

Stripes and Boyfriend Jeans by Willa’s Cherry Bomb

Real Life Look # 2 | Classic trench coat with stripes

What is it about stripes that make them such a natural match for the good ol’ trench? Well, they’re both classic pieces, which compliment each other nicely. Both work well with jeans, of course, and the slouchy boyfriend style of these ones keeps the look fresh and contemporary. Love the hat!

The Classic Beige Trenchcoat by Lurchhound loves

Real Life Look # 3 | Classic trench coat with an all-black outfit

Firstly and most importantly: LOVE the lurch-hound! We also love the way the basic black outfit contrasts with the beige coat: the minimal look is always in style, just like the classic trench coat itself!

Do you own a trench coat? What’s your favourite way to wear it?

I always have one, because it goes with so much. Recently my daughter bought herself the 9,99 € version from ALDI. It is perpetually rumpled and the stitching is too heavy for my taste, but I have to admit that she looks better in it than I in my own *much* more expensive trenchcoat. That’s the bright side of being seventeen…
