Save or Splurge: High waist pants by Elizabeth and James and Miss Selfridge

High_waist_pants

They’re not exactly the same, but when we spotted the high-waisted trousers on the left of the image above at Miss Selfridge this morning, we were instantly reminded of the Elizabeth and James ones we’d just been oggling at Net-a-Porter, so here they are, awaiting your judgment.

Both are skinny of leg and high of waist (although the Elizabeth and James pants are obviously higher), and both have rows of buttons on the front. Is the extra fabric on the waist of the designer versions worth the extra money, though, or would you save your cash and stick with Miss S?

Would you save or splurge?

I think the cheaper ones look cuter in the pic…but that doesn’t guarantee they’d look better on.

I’d save because I wouldn’t wear either of these.

Ya, not a fan of the high-waisted pants myself. If they can make Mischa Barton have saddle bags, I’m not going near them.

My particular figure works well with high-waist pants – so they’re something I’d always wear. So I would want a good pair that fit me really well. I would opt for the E&J ones in this case – they look amazingly well-made. I might wait for a sale or something though…

I picked up a pair similar to the Miss Selfridge version at a charity shop last year for about $5. Definitely getting my money’s worth from them.

I would save, I have never spent more than £50 on a pair of trousers and that is the way it is staying lol. whats your opinion with the expected arrival of high waisted women’s trousers, shorts and mini skirts hitting our high street stores this summer, do you think this will be the end of the hipsters?
