Style Trial: Fringe shorts and jacket

Fringe. It’s one of those “love it or hate it” kinda things. If it’s done right, it can be dramatic and statement-making (what the statement IS, exactly, is for you to decide). But when it’s done wrong…

fringe blazer and shorts

[Jacket |Shorts]

…you get an ombre, fringe shorts-suit. Even if you’re one of those people who has the innate ability to look good in pretty much anything, and to pull things like this off, you’re still going to look like fashion threw up all over you. It’s a trend salad, isn’t it? And it’s one that’ll have a good chance of making you look like an Afghan Hound. We’re not even sure why we think that, to honest, because Afghan Hounds aren’t ombre short suits, are they? But as soon as we looked at these two items, that’s the image that popped into our minds. Isn’t fashion a strange thing, sometimes?

What kind of lingerie would you wear with an ombre fringe shorts suit, though? These are the kind of questions the fashion magazines WON’T answer for you. We will, though, and we’ll answer it by showing you this:

fringed lingerie

It’s an ombre fringe bra and knicker set and… an ombre fringe bodysuit. Take your pick, folks! Let your fringe flag fly! These look to us like the kind of thing Madonna might wear on stage. Other than that, though, we can’t really suggest a way to wear these. We’re guessing they’re supposed to be on show, because there’s not much point in putting fringes on your knickers if no one’s going to see them (and they’d be a complete pain under jeans, don’t you think? Imagine all those fringes getting caught in the fly!) so perhaps we’ll just have to go with the cop-out excuse “in the bedroom”. Assuming your partner is as into fringe as you’d have to be to want to wear all of this.

Like we say, though, fringe tends to be one of those “love it or hate it” things. We know which side WE’RE on in the case of the items above, but what about you? Do you think these are crimes of fashion, or should we let them off with a warning?

Fringe: innocent or guilty?
