Fashion Police Glossary: Bandals (a cross between boots and sandals)

Bandals

They say you learn something every day, and today The Fashion Police learned that the strange boot/sandal hybrids we've been seeing so much of in the fashion world recently actually have a name. They're called bandals. (Boot/sandals. You see what they did there?)

Yes, the same fashion writers (or at least, we'd assume it was the same ones) who brought us the terms "jeggings" and "shants" have done it again, cunningly mashing two words together, in roughly the same way Office must have mashed a boot and flip-flop together to create these 'Harp' thong booties. Sorry, we mean bandals.

So now you know, folks. Now you know.

    reminds me of “Do you speak Micra?”
    I just don’t get it.
    Sun = sandals
    Sun + Bandals = eerie white ankles on tanned legs and feet. It’s like bleaching legwarmers onto your skin.

    I hate these even more than I hate open toed boots. Boots serve a purpose and so do sandals… they are not one and the same purpose though. And these are icky brown too. Excuse me while I vom!

    OK, so they’re open shoes, and thus meant to be work in warm weather sans socks … so that means your ankles get all hot and sweaty.
    The only thing I can imagine that’s worse than their actual visual appeal is how they’d feel at the end of a day’s wear.
    Gross.

    I put these in the same category with Uggs and Crocs. In other words, they make me want to hurl.

    I kind of like them I guess. There’s something comfy and appealing about them. However, they look like they’d get really uncomfortable and gross after wear. 🙁
