Here in the UK, they’re called “braces” and “vests”.  There are quite a lot of differences between US and UK terms for different items of clothing, and because we’re a UK-based website, we tend to use mostly UK terms, although we do have American writers, so the odd Americanism will slip in here and there. We’re in the process of writing a post explaining the differences in what we call these things, so watch this space.
