We’ve talked a lot recently about our love of fashion blogs, and the insight they provide into what people ACTUALLY wear (as opposed to what the fashion media tells us we should be wearing), so now it’s time to get to know some of the women (and men!) behind the blogs. We’re starting off with a quick catch-up with Ileana from Novel Style…
Where are you based?
I’m from Argentina, and during an exchange program in the US, I met an Austrian guy… we fell in love, and moved to Austria, where my blog is now based .
What made you decide to start a fashion blog?
Back in 2012, when I was finishing my fashion design studies and prepearing to move to Europe, I decided it was the perfect time to start a blog. It was something that I wanted to do for a really long time, but as I was busy with my graduate project I couldn’t fully dedicate to blogging. Gladly, I knew that once in Austria I would have a lot of free time and a desperate need to continue my work in fashion.
How would you describe your style?
I think my style is romantic and a little experimental. I love trying new things and playing with fashion. Sometimes I purchase things just cause they are fun to play… but at the end of the day I am girly, classy, with a whole lot of bows and floral prints…
What’s your go-to outfit for those days when you just don’t know what to wear?
Oh! Those days… it really depends on where I’m going and what I’m doing. On a casual day it would be a pair of bleached or broken skinny jeans, Air max sneakers and a chunky sweater or hoodie.
And what item/trend would you NEVER wear?
Skulls! I really do not like things with printed skulls or skull shape… they freak me out, even if they are pink and have tons of flowers on them.
Who are your favourite fashion bloggers?
I realized, just a few days ago, that my favorite bloggers are girls born in another country than the one they live at. I love Andy Torres and Evelina Barry. I also enjoy reading Cupcakes and Cashmere, A Beautiful Mess and Bakerella, to satisfy my sweet tooth.
